    Ah I remember it well:
We chislers would get brought into town for a new pair of shoes.
‘Come on’ me Ma used to say, ‘We’ll go in and grab a bargain before them culchies come up on the 8th of December and clean us out’.

I never buy anything on this idiotic Black Friday.

Even if it was anti venom after a snake bite. Need to have principles and the snake bite scenario is so unlikely as to not have to ever put them to the test.

I’ve done a bunch of stuff online – not Amazon mind you – but outlets where I can get a significant bump in my Avios points thru AerClub – mostly Arnotts, BTs and other Irish retailers. I’m not necessarily buying discounted products either. Just from retailers offering a big bump on their usual points.

    Which says :

In 2020, our investigation into Black Friday deals revealed that 98% of the discounts advertised the previous year – including promotions on popular tech, home and personal care products – were available for the same price or cheaper in the six months after the sales. And, while you might expect some products to fall in price over time, we also found that 85% of the items had also been the same price or cheaper in the six months before Black Friday. In fact, just three of the 119 products we tracked – that’s 1% – were at their very cheapest price on Black Friday.

      + 1

Black Friday is good for The Dude as there is likely to be less idiots out on other days, with lesser queues consequently.
