Anti-covid response measures protest in Dublin city last month

This morning

The National Immunisation Advisory Committee has recommended that Covid-19 vaccinations be offered to children aged five to 11 years.

The advice has been given to the Government today and around 480,000 primary school children will now be offered a vaccine.

Yes well there are people, including some on here, who are that selfish. If there are long term side effects, then this is the group who will suffer them most.

      1. Optimus Grime

By no means anti-vax myself (double jabbed & I’ll get the booster) but I have reservations about the jab for kids this young, given the diminished protection of the jabs over the past few months

        1. K. Cavan

You’ll get the booster, Optimus? Surely you mean you’ll continue with the boosters? Russian Roulette will only end one way.
Sooner or later your luck will run out.
          Boosters Til You Die.

          1. Cian

Can you back that outrageous statement up? That the “risk of injury [is not] connected to the previous jabs”?

          2. SOQ

There is multiple reported instances of people getting injured and in some cases dying after the third jab, while having no issues with the first two. How many remains to be seen.

The other side of that coin is that anyone who had a serious reaction to the first two would be very foolish to have a booster.

          3. SOQ

So are you saying that they were somehow injured or died through some sort of cumulative effect of three jabs?

That is possible of course, but there is no research to say either way.

      2. Cian

I agree there are people, including some on here, who are selfish.
What you seem to overlook is that Covid also may have long term side effects, and this is the group who will suffer them most.

        1. SOQ

It is not as black and white issue as some would like to portray it to be. I doubt if there is many who would question the rationale of vaccinating high risk groups. That has been, and still is, standard practice where treatments are available.

But in the main, children are as low risk as you can get and their cost / benefit is very different- especially as we don’t know if there are going to be any long term injuries or side effects.

          1. Cian

yes, the cost / benefit is very different. Neither you nor I am in a position to effectively evaluate this cost / benefit. The people in NAIC are.

          2. SOQ

Every single parent is in the position to evaluate and balance such risks Cian- it is their decision alone.

    2. Cian

      Using children as a human shield is repugnant – I agree;

Vaccinating children against a disease is what any parent would do.

      1. K. Cavan

Vaccinating children against disease is one thing, Cian. Offering them as lab rats in a Stage 3 trial of a failed medical technology to obtain weak immunity against a disease that has been proven beyond doubt not to be fatal to under-17s & only very rarely so for anyone under 70 is beyond child abuse. Anyone who would recommend that is either utterly insane or evil enough to be jailed for life.

My little one was hospitalised due to complications associated with having covid recently. It wasn’t the virus itself that was the issue but how it affected her illness. All the hard work we put in to make her well again after her diagnosis has been undone, and worse. We’re still seeing the effects of the virus, even though she’s recovered, and we don’t know how long this will be an issue for.

Now I don’t know if it would have made any difference, had she received the vaccine but her medical team have been saying for a number of months that she should receive the vaccine as soon as its made available, and considering how much it has damaged my daughter’s hard fought for recovery from the worst of her illness, I can see why they were encouraging it. For my daughter who will be managing her illness for life – and all of the attendant issues which come with that – I don’t want to see her fighting another uphill battle because of those side effects associated with having had covid.

And don’t @me, because I’ve spent weeks and months traipsing in and out of hospital because of this. I’m not arguing about the vaccine. I’m giving my perspective as a parent of a vulnerable child who has been dealing with a serious autoimmune disease and how covid has directly impacted her long-term health.

    1. SOQ

I doubt if anyone is questioning the decisions of people in your sort of position millle. Just like high risk adults, it is perfectly understandable why you would want such for your child. Best of health to you and yours btw.

    2. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

Sending all my very best to your little one and strength to Mama, I hope she is well to enjoy her Christmas x
My niece is also very high risk and as a result is waiting on her booster.

      1. just millie

I hope your wee niece stays in the very pink of health and gets her vaccine soon, my dear.

Hope you’re looking forward to first Christmas with the little one. It’s lovely when they’re at that age and all they really want is to eat the wrapping paper or play in the box that the lovely new toy came in ;) xx

        1. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

          thanks Mills,
she has discovered the joys of destruction already so Christmas will be a blast…riiiip

    3. just millie

Thanks for the kind messages folks. Really appreciate it, I do.

I just wanted to add that didn’t write the above comment to garner sympathy or for point-scoring in ‘The Great Debate’.

I just wanted to outline precisely how difficult it is for those of us dealing with high risk illnesses and how covid affected my own family. As I said, it’s not the virus (which manifested itself as a fairly nasty cold, no more) that is the issue in my case, but how it attacks the vulnerable systems in a body and how we don’t know how long these side affects will go on for as yet.

      1. Oro

To add a slightly similar (but adult sized) story to Millie’s. I don’t usually describe personal event stories but it is quite similar if less serious.

I had a (less serious sounding) problem in a respiratory zone that I had been dealing with for years, and had gotten under a sort of control over the last year. I had covid over the summer, quite mild although lagging symptoms, but what happened was that the old problem was brought back in a way that was more concentrated and difficult to manage. Cut through a lot of testing and this ended up with a surgery and what I affectionately look back on as ‘the worst 6 weeks of my life’. Traumatic, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Through it now and it is not something I will have to deal with in a lifelong way, so that of course is different from your situation M but I also feel these kind of instances are not being discussed, and are clearly happening, and newsworthy. Anyway, hope your child is much improved M.

    4. K. Cavan

I’m sure, Millie, having gone through all that, you’ll not fail to understand the ultimate horror that will engulf so many families in the coming months, years, perhaps decades, as their previously healthy children, at zero risk from Covid, needlessly, tragically, die or suffer life-changing injuries caused by the most toxic & least effective intervention in medical history being forcibly imposed by a corrupted government & profit-hunting Corporate Pharma.
Speaking as a parent myself, my heart already goes out to those for whom tragedy awaits, just around the corner, just one injection away. God help them, their loss will only be exacerbated by the guilt they’ll suffer for the rest of their lives because of their reckless, irrational behaviour.

      1. SOQ

I don’t think it is the role of people like millie to be taking all that on board- they have enough to be dealing with as is.

        1. Nigel

I disagree with you over everything, but you really are a fundamentally decent person, SOQ. Well said.

          1. Oro

I’m always fascinated by this phenomenon of rewarding a generally negative person or person that displays primarily nasty behaviour for a rare moment of normal behaviour.

Whether SOQ is a fundamentally good person or not is kind of irrelevant, his behaviour is typically not good, and the way he operates on here is with a lack of regard for the truth, which damages the comment section.

“Homophobic Muslims and lazy lesbians” his most recent comment FWIW which was just deleted from the Oh Mi thread.

          2. 1-2-1-2

Oh my. So much to unpack here.
Why not show a bit of compassion to SOQ for his own sake instead of constantly seeming to be superior?

          3. Oro

I don’t think SOQ needs or would care about my compassion, and I find that “for his own sake” to be a little patronizing to SOQ if I’m being honest, that you would suggest he needs / is looking for that.

And I’m not trying to be superior I’m just criticizing SOQ’s general output. I might have worded it badly before it it’s coming across as an attempt to be superior but I’m not comparing SOQ’s commentary with my own, just talking about it in and of itself.

          4. benblack

Strange you never confronted SOQ in the thread. Your response to him was, and I quote, “OK”.

However, I’m sure you contacted Broadsheet immediately to complain and request the removal of his post.

          5. Oro

Why should I confront him? He’s not gonna stop making offensive comments because I ask him. And he shouldn’t have to. And as should I be able to point out how it’s offensive. I also don’t have to respond to him. I rarely respond to you, the only reason I’m doing so now is to address your remark about my contacting bs to complain about SOQ’s comment, which I didn’t do. Mods can confirm if they so choose.

          6. SOQ

Get over your divisive yourself darling- lesbian Grainne is pretty much a centre piece in the gay men’s health scene.

She’s probably part of the Pfizer washed, but she is also a decent sort- nobody knows the full truth in this thing yet.

          7. benblack

May I remind you, Oro, that YOU posted on this thread about an unrelated matter from another thread to make a point YOU decided not to make directly when you had the opportunity on the original thread.

“And as should I be able to point out how it’s offensive”

You didn’t, though, that’s the point – you replied, “OK”, without pointing to any offense.

Thanks for clearing up the other issue regarding contacting the mods.

However, your misandry regarding men of a particular age is as disgusting as any misogyny – how does that sit with your woke self? Comfortably, I’m sure.

    1. Optimus Grime

Ah yes the inimitable work of Ronal N Kostoff! An academic Henry’s Cat if ever there was one – Perhaps have a read of some of his other work before referencing a single paper. Data mining, vaccines, 5G, the man’s either a polymath genius or an idiot I know which one I’d say is true

      1. freewheeling

And which are you? First, know thyself.

There’s multiple “academic” voices agreeing its unethical (at best).

      2. K. Cavan

Don’t dare attempt to fool yourself, Optimus, you can’t possibly believe this decision, to expose the nation’s children to repeatedly fatal, toxic injections which grant an utterly pathetic level of protection against a non-fatal disease has been made with even the slightest regard for the health or safety of those innocents.
It’s undeniable that more children will die from the effects of these injections than will ever succumb to Covid. All across our country, there are children right now, living breathing children with their whole lives ahead of them, who are soon to die at the end of a syringe, while the health authorities & the media work up the propaganda they will roll out in an attempt to cover up the slaughter.
Such depraved evil, such disregard for human life, it’s beyond chilling.

        1. Broadbag

”Children…who are soon to die at the end of a syringe…such depraved evil, such disregard for human life.”

Would you ever cop on and get a grip, talk about fear porn!

  2. Micko

    Ah well. We’re here now.

NIAC has advised 5-11 year olds to get it.

It’s up to each parent to decide what’s best for their own children.

I do hope that they don’t require vax passports for indoor activities for children as some places are doing – New York for example are starting this in a few days. https://www.littler.com/publication-press/publication/key-nyc-pass-vax-or-miss-out

It’s wrong to lock people out of the arts and culture and entertainment.

And to do it to young kids is criminal.

  3. SOQ

The Vax package Insert for Comirnaty / Pfizer vaccine states the following:

Page 1- COMIRNATY is a vaccine indicated for active immunization to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in individuals 16 years of age and older.

Page 14- “The safety and effectiveness of COMIRNATY in individuals younger than 16 years of age have not been established.”

Chris Whitty’s brother is a former employee of GlaxoSmithKline & current co-ordinator of the WHO’s vaccination program, Angela Van Der Layen, who purchases injections for the EU, can keep it in the family since her husband works for a vaccine manufacturer, Bill Gates is the biggest private funder of both the UK’s medicines regulator & the WHO, as well as a shareholder in all the big vaccine manufacturers & at €351 million & counting, the biggest corrupter of the media on the planet. Ireland is also fatally exposed to this corruption, since pharma products are our largest industrial export.
No data mining involved, this is just what occurs to me, off the top of my head & represents the tip of an iceberg of corruption at the highest levels of government & pharma.
I think many retain an outdated image of scientists & researchers, beavering away in their labs, trying to uncover the mysteries of science, while the reality is that there is no science done anywhere that is not financed by & for the benefit of giant pharma corporates. The Pharma Industry IS science, today, it also controls, by means of funding, the entire state apparatus originally designed to protect the customers of these psychopathic corporations. This is the reality, not the misty-eyed, fictional, image so many clearly believe in, as they parrot the slogan “trust the science”, a slogan both ignorant & most cruelly, designed to expose the slogan-shouters to the ridicule of those who know the truth but stay silent for the benefit of their bank balances. They are laughing at the fools, they are killing them & soon, their children, by the thousands & being paid handsomely to do so.
This is, by a huge margin, the most evil campaign of destruction & death humanity has suffered & it’s likely that those responsible will pay no price beyond the revulsion recorded in our future histories. Plans to weaponise other pathogens in order to facilitate the murder of up to a billion people in cold blood are being publicly indicated & privately discussed & when the earth has been piled on the bodies & the dust has settled, humanity will find itself in the grip of the eternal evil within ourselves that many millions have already died to prevent & democracy will be just a short chapter of 20th century history.
Hitler, Stalin & Mao wait admiringly at the gates of hell for the masterminds of this slaughter.

Sing ‘Sylvia’s Mother’ by Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show but replace the title with ‘Chris Whitty’s Brother’.

Parting words. This news site for the ‘bewildered’ has lived up to its motto. Ye all need to get off and spend time wisely. G’luck.
