Blessed water….. St. Brigid’s holy well, Co. Kildare. The distinctive stones in the stream are known as Saint Brigid’s slippers pic.twitter.com/OV6olr8ojq

Snug.
After a long day’s asymmetric crucifix weaving.
Put your feet up.
You deserve it.
Earlier: Reed It And Weep
Meanwhile…
Yikes.
This afternoon.
Temple Street Hospital Dublin.
Clinical Nurse Manager Suzanne Kernan celebrates St Brigid’s Day in protective manner and garb. Frontline health workers have been approved to receive a recognition payment of €1,000 from the Government for their efforts during covid. In addition, from next year St Brigid’s Day will be designated as an extra bank holiday.

I worked throughout the pandemic and there is no bonus here!
If I didn’t work throughout the pandemic, many many employees would not have received their salaries.
Still no bonus here!
If only I worked in a major civil/public service which ministers could easily influence for votes with cash and a days holiday.
Sure working in hospitals is so easy bro. You’re a hero.
There should of been a grand for everyone who had to put their lives on hold during covid not a reward for public sector workers .
I would love to see exactly what proportion of public sector workers successful mortgage applications compared to private sector workers mortgage applications for the houses purchased during the last three years.?
I would say it would be 80/20 in favour of the public sector.
No one ever talks about this.
Who–woaah there…
No way!
Stop this immediately.
-I shouldn’t have to spend an extra day with my family every year just because some Front Line Health Workers aren’t paid enough… they get fobbed off with token gestures and I end up looking after the kids. Loada bollix!
Just make them Employee Of The Month or something.
I wonder what impact this new completely uncalled for and unnecessary Bank Holiday will have on said Health Service?
give em a clap
lol
Uncalled for? We’ve 9. Austria has 13. But sure…
First school I ever went to was called St Brigid’s.
It was in Finglas, Dublin 11.
All boys, obviously (1966, when The Beatles were considered ‘rebels’ and they hadn’t even been to India yet.)
It was run by nuns.
I was 5yrs old.
Look at the state of me now!
Is this uncanny?

The album isn’t even out until next month.
Sooner we drop the saint out of that the way it’s not actually called saint patrick’s day by anyone in ireland ever .. then we can all remember how our schools required religious guidance and bracketed decent behaviour and emotional support as god’s own work.. saoirse go mhol ;)
But it is Saint Patrick and Saint Brigid were talking about. Don’t mention them if they offend you.
Talking about that
I am sick and tired of each day enduring a Catholic mass broadcasted each morning on the RTE news channel.
We are no longer a Catholic country
But each day have to also suffer the Catholic version of calling the faithful to pray at 6pm
Time these things were gone .
I don’t like soccer. But some people do. A public service broadcaster has to put in a bit of stuff to suit different groups of people.
Out with Satan
What’s this we business
Nostalgic.
