      I see his point
The cancel culture ban Russian music their arts
Anyone that has a different view
To me it’s like the monochrome baying mob in Mel brooks young Frankenstein marching on castle Frankenstein
We are now very close to mindless thugs using these times to kick off on the street and marching blindly into a WW3
Where is our neutrality which contrary to our constitution is being stamped on by war mongerers ?
Michael De is right and maybe who we need to be the voice in any discussions in the EU or UN
      Not our muppets in government

They’re imposing sanctions on a country that invaded another. If this is cancelling then he’s trying to pwn Ukraine.

        1. K.Cavan

Never saw any sanctions on the US for invading, or rather levelling, Iraq. A million dead, no worries!
Syria, Libya, ah go on, go on, go on…eight wars since ’91, what a savage bloodlust they possess.
One rule for Russia, no rules for the USA. Their reign of terror is coming to an end & most of the planet will rejoice, as anyone with any decency should.
Pity it took a war to set it in motion but at least this is a war between two armies, rather than the usual atrocity show of the USA slaughtering civilians.

          1. Nigel

Obsessed with the past crimes of the US whie Putin’s out merrily committing his as we speak. It’s not exactly subtle

Neither did I .saying that I saw sanctions on Israel for invading Gaza
But all the sanctions put effect the joe soap on our streets but not big business or the elite in the west
Sanctions only effect the poor and there will be no sanctions that hit the pockets of the rich
Maybe it’s better to not freeze the assets of the rich in Russia but actually confiscate them and divvy them up in using them to subsidise energy for the customers facing the misery of price gouging
In reality there is no shortage of gas and oil as production was lowered when the demand was low during covid and not ramped up after and the producers are making massive profits out of strangling economies by keeping supplies low
And who now are going to make a killing on liquid gas exports to replace Russia?
You got it the USA at prices way in excess than when this war started

Will we see any of these massive windfalls for energy suppliers helping the victims of this war or the people now in fuel poverty or food poverty?
No they will just add it to their wealth
Meanwhile if there is a world war they certainly will be not on the front line
            We will

Eh given the disastrous performance of his much vaunted (overrated) armed forces on the actual battlefield (instead of playing toy soldiers in his twisted mind) I’d recommend the adoption of a bit of diversity training as army incapable of adapting to a changing society may also not be very good at adapting to a changing battlefield. He sounds like a bleating whining Daily Mail “wokism has made us all soft” column by Liddle or Littlejohn (there is no higher insult)

I think there should notice a fair thinning out of the ranks on show at the old May day shindig this year in Moscow

I believe Ukraine has offered them a swap on the hardware front.

those From Russia with Love shops must be considering a branding exercise at this stage ?

The Ukraine which appealed for foreign mercenaries to bring their own kit because they didn’t have any spare- that Ukraine?

    2. Horsethieving Dopesniffer

Russian forces ARE diverse. Their federation still includes several races and religions.
Lately they are even more diverse, because they include Syrian mercenaries and Chechens.
Yes, Chechens. The same guys that they were in war with. The same guys that were taking Russian hostages before that. The same guys that were trying to blow up Russian schools and theathers. Russia is now paying a tribute to them, and they are no longer trying to blow them up.
Current role of Chechen forces is to terrorise civilians, make selfies for Instagram and shoot at any defectors. NKVD no longer exists, but someone still has to take that role and shoot at their own soldiers.
And no, I am not joking about Instagram and selfies.

Boo! Much disappointment here at Broadbag Towers, 2 greats were nearly united, so close and yet so far!

    2. Daisy Chainsaw

I can smell the rage off her from here! JKR has picked up quite the far right/conservative following lately and now she has an honest to Betsy dictator fanboi.

It’s hilarious how the once self proclaimed mighty liberator Putra is now the victim – what a wimp

Well at least the hapless Russian conscripts have finally found some use for their useless Airfix tanks – running over their own officers

So the leader of a super power just inserts himself into the middle of a western culture debate for the craic?

I don’t think so- there is a reason for it. We can speculate as to what that reason is- but there definately is one.

    1. Nigel

See my first comment. Also, Putin’s been funding the sorts of far right groups that pretend cancel culture is a real threat for years, he inserted himself into the culture wars long ago.

        1. Nigel

Yes, you like to conveniently forget things, or pretend things, or make things up. I just don’t understand why you do all that for someone like Putin.

        2. Cian

          Fascism
          noun

A political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition

          https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/fascism

          Does this describe China?

    2. jungleman

      My god.

The reason is some bright spark thought it was a good way of appealing to certain types in the west in order to garner sympathy. As you like to say, this is not rocket science.

What did you think his reason was? Do you think he cares about JKR and Graham getting picked on by the libs? Oh no wait, maybe it is somehow linked to the biolabs and Covid!! Time to join the dots!
