Bono wins the 2021 J. William Fulbright Prize for International Understanding from The Fulbright Association.

Starts at 1 hr, 20 seconds.

Bono said:

“After January 6th in this city, I sensed a of mood of grief. Some spoke of the American dream dying on the steps of the Capitol that chilling day. But it was it was not the American dream that was dying. The American dream was alive. It was a death of a generation’s innocence.”

Riight.

Of Putin, he said:

“He is done. He is not just a tyrant. He is like a bad Bond villain.”

A bit of a Walter Mitty isn’t he?

Although he might be just talking about his family roots – I’ve heard there was an element in FG that wanted to set up a pseudo-fascist police state, and saw an IRA man behind every gate-post. I’d guess he might come from that sort of a background.

Going on three decades since his band did anything worthwhile and he still can’t stop preaching to people.

I never liked U2 – their music always seemed born again xtian to me. Sort of catchy but puke-making holier-than-thou if you really listened.
