Just Before The Bank Holiday Weekend

at

Bank of Ireland has confirmed it is experiencing technical difficulties which have resulted in funds not going through to a number of bank accounts..

The bank says among those affected are payments to staff at the Department of Justice and Department of Education should be processed tomorrow morning.

It is still working to resolve the problem.

It apologised to any customers affected and said the credits will be in their accounts by first thing tomorrow morning.

Bank of Ireland delay leaves some customers without pay (RTE)

Dicey Reilly’s and Coppers face a tough Thursday, hopefully they’ll make it back over the weekend the poor craters.

I’m glad you don’t have to worry about not getting paid on time.

It must be nice for you.

Eh, not just academic staff, I think you’ll find it’s ALL staff. Spoke to someone in BOI earlier regarding standing orders that are due to go out today and the reimbursement of late fees: ‘Well we can’t really say that it’s the bank’s fault so I can’t guarantee that’ was the reply. Fupping muppets. That’ll be me shifting my account in future.

And if our personal accounts are not with Bank of Ireland…will payments be available in our accounts tomorrow? …mortgage and direct debits are the worry here.

Anyone technical on here that might be able to explain / hypothesise? Something to do with inter-bank clearing or such?

I find it amazing that the Government put its payroll through that bank, a bank that gave the Gov two fingers re debt write downs…
