just a pity the irish governement will never ever go against a pal of the USA.
not an effin hope. i think the people are the only ones who can act, by boycotting
    israeli exports.

Listening to an Israeli woman on the radio this morning, I thought if she is representative of the general Israeli population, the killing will continue until the rest of the world steps in. They are simply land-grabbing thugs, there’s no talking to them.

  3. The bringer of facts

Let’s just turn the comments off.

Israel bad, Gaza good. Repeat for 200 comments.

    1. Buzz

Sometimes it really is that simple. I doubt if you had been observing the guards at Belsen, you would have been discussing the nuances of their culpability. Things have come a full circle.

    2. Odis

Thats blatantly untrue, There are comments that accuse the Israelis of being brutal, murderous, lying thugs. These comments are in the majority – because guess what?

And then there are the blatantly stupid comments from Israeli shills.

    3. Nigel

Israel bad, Gaza an overcrowded shithole of an open prison riddled with dangerous violent extremists happy to provoke Israel into bloody and brutal retaliatory/defensive military strikes that further radicalise the population and gradually turns Israel into a pariah state.

  4. Helen

the TV footage of pro-peace demonstrators in Israel being beaten up was truly shocking. Only democracy in the middle east my ass.

  5. poatmanpat

How do these people sleep at night? (When they sleep on the ground during the day) Boom Boom!!

  6. Kolmo

The internal electoral politics of Israel is driving this criminal madness – what right-wing orthodox nut has the biggest bollox for the cameras – and the fact local Palestinians are regarded as nothing more than vermin by a large section of the Israeli electorate.

    1. jungleman

Finkelstein argues that it is the power of the Israel lobby which allows for these actions. Although I obviously see your point about the extremism in Israel itself, there is very little that can be done internally to change this. It is the lobby which pushes the USA into allowing these atrocities.

  7. Drogg

I can look at no more images of dead children murdered by an invading force of a westernised army. I will just leave this here cause i can’t argue any more with the stupid f**king trolls on here any more.

How can journalists be objective when writing about dead children? http://gu.com/p/4vdhy/tw

    1. shitferbrains

Did you have a ” die-in ” for the kids killed by Assad or did your placard read ” Hands off Syria “.

      1. jungleman

shitferbrains. You and your ilk keep pushing this Syria line, amongst others. I said this on another post as a response: “the West has lost much of its influence over this conflict, therefore there is very little benefit to a protest in Ireland over Syria. When Britain, France and USA were considering intervening militarily in Syria there was a huge number of protests across Europe against this. The West does have a huge influence over Israel and therefore there is a huge number of protests in Ireland and other European countries.” Please take note of this.

Another line which you have thrown out: “for all the effort you put into Israel bashing I have yet to see you – or any of the many organisations you inhabit – come up with a single coherent suggestion as to how the impasse in relations between the Israelis and the Palestinians could reach a resolution. One that doesn’t involve the destruction of Israel in some form or other btw”.

I responded thus: “For starters they could end the blockade, then they could set up talks with Hamas and the PA that are not chaired by the US or some other supporter of Israeli war crimes. Perhaps the UN could set up a permanent embassy in the region where all peace talks would be held.” You didn’t bother responding to this.

Why don’t you stop with this ridiculous rhetoric? You are not interested in considering the validity of anything other than Israeli propaganda. Please do not throw out the Syria comment, the pro Palestine/pro Hamas conflation, or the “no better solution” line again. It’s just Hasbara rubbish.

      2. Drogg

Actually shitferbrains i have campaigned for Ireland to take in refugees from the conflict in syria and even said could we focus on availing spaces for kids, but you go on there and point the finger. People like you make me sick.

        1. HF

You’ve done this, you’ve done that. Fair play to you! But there’s just something more meaty, more satisfying, when Israel is involved, isn’t there?

          1. Drogg

HF i have very good friends who are Jewish and Israeli who don’t support the war so you can f**k right off with your allegations. But i am not a fan of Israel’s policies of blockading the Palestinian people, of brainwashing their kids with doctrine of the whole world hates us so we have to be super offensive the whole time. This is the last comment i will leave on this article so go ahead and spout what ever nonsense your going to come out with next.

          2. Nigel

Oh my God, you’ve caught him out with your cunning rhetorical trap and clever word-play and forced him to reveal his true self!

          3. ReproBertie

Oh good. HF is back to tell us about how he hopes for a total victory for his children-shelling buddies over the “savage hordes” surrounding them

I don’t think there’s much a genocide encouraging racist has to say that I need to hear but then HF never has much to say beyond insults anyway.

          4. HF

Hey Ropey. I bet you’ll be hoppin up and down tonight knowing in israeli soldier is being tortured by your Hamas buddies in Gaza. Must be a great day for you, right? By the way, thanks for using my words as a quotation, probably the first and last time it’ll ever happen.

          5. scottser

HF how come you only come out when israel is criticised? who’s paying you? cos no-one in their right mind trots out the nonsense you do. and you got your ass handed to you on a plate the other day, so why are you back?

          6. ReproBertie

Unlike you and that refugee-shelling country you support HF I take no joy from the suffering of others.

      3. Odis

        @ shiferbrains
There is one crucial difference here.
Syria doesn’t infect our discussion boards, like the latest pox, Expecting gratitude for the extermination of what they try to describe as being sub-human scum.

        1. Smashmouth

Let me get this straight Odis,

Israel have “infected” Broadsheet like a disease and are seeking gratitude for killing Palestinians?

Am i to take it that you are tarnishing the entire nation of Israel as a plague of genocidal maniacs?

    2. Smashmouth

“How can journalists be objective when writing about dead children?”

ummm – thats pretty much the significant principle of being a journalist

      1. Drogg

Shut the fupp up and read the article. the sooner school is back on and your gone from here the fupping better.

        1. Smashmouth

          I made a valid point

Your inability to handle rational debate or criticism is quite frankly laughable

          1. Smashmouth

            Ha!

That really did make me guffaw

Your rational debate has thus far included references to the conflict being in breach of the ten commandments!

My posts have been looking at the conflict from a neutral persepctive whereas your world view appears to be just as blinkered as Droggs

    1. Lilly

At this stage the Israelis have generated so much bad blood, I think they should be forced to piss off en masse to America.

      1. posmanpat

Teach people to cringe when the hear silly phrases like “holy land” “gods plan” ,or the “chosen people” and every quote from various hundred if not thousand year old texts that. Once we teach all our children how to think critically and hear that alarm in our heads when some authority figure uses quotes as if fact. weather for nationalistic or religious reasons. and bobs your uncle !world piece in one generation , chances of happening :zero. Gaza and Israel is just land. it has historical importance sure , not some “spiritual” significance . Personally I could live anywhere in the world as long as I felt safe there. (so the middle east is out) Nationalism and Religion mean nothing to me . its all an accident of birth. Holy sh!t! the world most French man Gerard Depardieu doesn’t even consider himself French anymore!! That’s the type of people who rule the world. renounce your nationality and keep more money/power .? sounds good to me! Having conviction in your beliefs is great but blind loyalty to a nation or a religion based purely on where you were born or raised is stupidity that could even get you killed in a worse case scenario. This conflict goes back hundreds of years before any of the victims were born (and I include every person in Israel and Gaza when I say victim). what are they fighting over really? a stretch of sh!thole on the Mediterranean , just because it was mentioned by fictional characters in a work of fiction thousands of years ago? Why doesn’t the whole Christian Jewish and Muslim world just go live there? I tell you why. because its sh!t , that’s why. you would have to be mad to stay if you have the means to leave. People of Israel. People of Gaza . Get out for your own good. The land doesn’t love you back .its just dirt.

  8. shitferbrains

If the West has lost influence over the Syrian slaughter it’s in no small way thanks to the efforts of people like you for whom Assad is the last best hope of Israel haters. As for your ” solution ” it’s laughable, larded as it is with anti-Israel and anti-American tripe , as illustrated by the failure of Hamas backers Qatar and Turkey to make any significant contribution to a mere truce ; you don’t even acknowledge that the Egyptians aren’t that interested in your peace process , but I presume you put that down to some kind of imperialist-colonialist plot. I’ve got news for you – and your ” ilk ” as you so charmingly put it- drop the hate-Israel drivel because they’re here to stay and direct some of your efforts to lessening the grip of the clerical fascists who presently control Gaza.
    Hasbara my ass.

    1. jungleman

I’m clearly referring to Egypt when I state “they could set up talks with Hamas and the PA that are not chaired by the US or some other supporter of Israeli war crimes”. In fact I referred to the wide-spread expectation prior to this conflict that Egypt would be partisan on a previous thread, in a direct response to you, and you didn’t bother to respond. I don’t hate Israel, and none of my comments imply that I do. In fact I consistently make a clear distinction between the Israeli government and the Israeli population. If the UK and USA had their way on Syria, it would be in even worse state than it is presently. A cursory look at the state of Libya should give you an indication of this.

  9. Advertising On Police Cars

Boycott America providing the weapons and technology to Israel, shame the US to actually do something, picket the US embassy , call in their Ambassador, let Michael Squee go all postal on them live on the air. IDF is not for turning…
