Jeekers tonight.
Ah, shag it. It’s their stupid paper: they can write whatever they like there. Keeps em off the streets, I guess.
Soapy
You don’t get those in The Irish Times…..
bisted
…oh yes you do….maybe not just as stark.
dhaughton99
Well it really is true when it comes to Mooney, he never shuts up about it.
Who the hell would listen to tubs anyway?
andyourpointiswhatexactly
Drunk sluts, probably.
Rob_G
haha
taralara
Mild compared to the other articles in this months edition. I’m objecting to it coming in my door.
“menu for local takeaways gratefully accepted but no copies of Alive! please” sign is ready

You could put up a sign telling them you’ll only take it through the back doors.

Now available online! http://www.alive.ie/
Same obsessions as always – what other people do with their dangly bits.
Sidewinder
Sluts and fairies. Have Alive not got anything better to do than trawling through twitter for this shite?
rotide
Have Broadsheet got nothing better to do than twarl through twitter for equally mundane shit on the other side of the fence?
Cuts both ways dear.
Sidewinder
Don’t call me dear you patronising arse.
And no, as this is exactly what the site is about. Doi.

rotide
Do you listen to yourself ?
It’s ok for this website to have a slant and an agenda, but not their newspaper?
Stop being such an armchair liberal dear
Sidewinder
Do you read what I say? Did I say anything about an agenda? Lets have a read shall we – oh look, no I didn’t.
Back in your box you fox news loving twit.
rotide
Don’t agree with him = He must love fox news.
Incredible leap. You should compete in the long jump.
Sidewinder
Do the words “armchair liberal” sound familiar? Hypocrisy thy name is _________
Three guesses to fill in the blanks.
rotide
Bit of a logical fallacy there dearie.
Just because I recognise that you’re an armchair liberal, It doesn’t follow that I’m an armchair conservative, or any sort of conservative.
Sidewinder
By “recognise” do you mean “compete in the long jump”?
Sidewinder
Also many things are tweeted directly at them to alert them to it, they don’t go hunting for it.
rotide
So, exactly like broadsheet then?
Sidewinder
Yes, exactly like broadsheet, as that is to whom I was referring. Alive isn’t on social media to my knowledge.
Do keep up.
rotide
There’s also a lot of non-stories that contributors here hunt out on twitter. Lars Biscuits jumps to mind.
Just sayin'
Alcohol is a massive factor in rape, both for the victim and the rapist. While the victim of rape is always in the right, taking steps to reduce risk, such as not getting leglessly drunk, is only sensible.
NICE Anne
how about “DON’T BE A FUVKING RAPEY SH1THEAD ” being the message. Much better a bleaty than “take steps to reduce the risk”
FFS
Casey
Anne…. hand in your nice badge, you sweary little minx you :)
Anne
We’ll give her a dumb badge instead.
Anyone calling themselves ‘nice’ or ‘good’ is a moron.
You’re not nice and you’re not good. You’re just a moron.
MORON Anne. MORON Helen.
well
Not wearing the veil/hijab is a massive factor in rape, both for the victim and the rapist. While the victim of rape is always in the right, taking steps to reduce risk, such as wearing the veil, is only sensible

donkey_kong
stop being sensible. Stop making reasonable points that people should take heed of their personal safety.
It always bothers me that people think that preaching about personal safety is not a separate issue completely to victim blaming.
Just sayin'
Well, if my car was broken into, it really isn’t my fault. But if I left my camera on the front seat, its still not my fault but that’s pretty unwise. It’s a legitimate observation. It doesn’t make the thief less culpable.
I’ve done a lot of formal academic study on the issue and related issues, probably more than most commenters here. Its a sensitive topic obviously but cheap shots and psudo-PC posturing don’t help.
deliverancecountry
Cool, so they can all come stay with you where they’re safe from their family and acquaintances. You can bring them clubbing on your noble steed.
well
Are a lot of these about safety? i’ve noticed a lot of the same people that complain about people getting drunk tend to also complain about clothing.
Should women only go outside in full battle armor?
Blatantly missing the point, and trying to make a joke out of it isn’t cool. Armour? Yeah right, like.
Women should stay indoors, end of. Tesco deliver now. As Christ intended.
well
my point is the same people complain about women getting drunk are the same ones that will claim she was asking for it for wearing a short skirt.
It doesn’t matter what the woman did, they will find a way to impart some of the blame on her.
Sidewinder
Agreed. And saying there’s something people can do to stop it always implies they had some hand in setting up a “rape friendly” situation which is simply untrue. Whether the comment is academic or “sensible” doesn’t matter a toss when every person who says such things reinforces the considerations judges and juries take into account when these cases come to court.
Whens the last time you heard about an arsonist getting off because the owner of the property had matches by the front door?
Eh, obviously! Ever heard of ‘Eve’, no? Honestly, heathens.
deliverancecountry
Outside?
Casey
You’re right. I’ll put on my chastity belt tonight and throw the key in the Liffy.
Better to do that than give out higher custodial sentances for rapists.
Better do that than eradicate the culture of rape acceptance that is creeping into our society.
Better do that than get the message out these that those who rape should be treated as a social pariah for the rest of their days.
What do you do when people take all manners of precautions against rape but still rape happens in our society? What then?
Will you see then that being raped is not a matter of how you dress, act, behave or your state of sobriety? Will you see then that rape is a much more incideous evil that does not respect measures taken on a personal level to counteract it?
What do you say to children who are raped? Should have been more careful of your personal safety?
What would you say to the woman dragged off the street and raped? Don’t go out after dark love?
What would you say to the entire communities of women and children in Pitcairn Island? Should have moved somewhere else darlings?
The message first and foremost has to be “Don’t rape” not “change your behaviour so you don’t get raped” That is one step away from implying that the victim was complicit in the crime commited against them.
Janet
nope rape is just rape, no excuses
Janet
Very good points Casey.
Odis
I’m outraged Bodg, what’s the world coming to?
NICE Anne
Ah here, Alive is not above letting an awl lesbian or two “come in”
In fairness, one does have to look on and say – Gay Propaganda is quite rampant in the global western media over the last couple of years…which does raise a point when does being gay cease being a preference and instead become a religion of sorts?
NICE Anne
Being gay is a choice??? Wahay!!!
Well YOU lied
Odis
So some gays are now implying. You need to keep up with the trends here.
ABM
I like you Louis Lefronde. My preference is for you.
Sidewinder
I’d love an example of gay propaganda.
Odis
How right you are. By the laws of political correctness, there can be no such thing.
