A silly ploy to get around the EU ban on the sale of high-wattage incandescent light-bulbs. A chap in Germany tried to sell them as 100 watt heat globes.

Nothing silly about it. feckin 4 euro for a crappy led bulb.
The Old Boy
The ploy is silly, the bulbs aren’t. I stockpiled a hundred of them before the ban came in.
Anyone ever bought an expensive long life bulb that says ‘equal to 100W light bulb’ and find themselves sittin’ in the NEAR BLOODY FUPPIN’ DARK THAT WOULDN’T LIGHT A BOOK PAGE IN A FIT !
Sorry, pet peeve moment.

I must say your completely wrong. All you have to do is turn on the light leave the bulb on for few minutes. Then turn your lamp on then open your blinds/curtains. Then scream obscenities at the bulb. Final step throw out bulb and live by candle light. Actually maybe your right after all
Pretty much. I only use green light bulbs where I don’t need a lot of light. In weather like this I comfort myself with the fact that my regular bulbs provide both light and a degree of central heating. Hey, you only live once.
Spaghetti Hoop
All this talk of lightbulbs has given me an idea.

Put one of these in the bedroom fixture, burned out after less than a week of 4-5 hours night-time use.

I used these indoors. Fused into the fitting and broke it. Best avoid.
You guys just decided that the warning on the package didn’t apply to you, isn’t that it?

1210 Lumen is the equivalent to the light emitted by 1,210 candles – ask anyone in A/V, okay me. It has a short life because of the heat it generates. Ask your pub landlord/lady about the cost of a replacement lamp for their projector of this Lumen.
