In week where the IT are writing about the way Dunnes staff have been treated like s**t by the company and, in some cases, victimised for striking, is this (on page 19 of today’s Ticket) not massively inappropriate?

No it’s not. This is just nitpicking…
They’re speaking honestly about the fashion arm of dunnes in the context of a light fashion article. It’s not really the place for a rabid trade union rant.
Any article that says Dunnes are kicking-ass this “season” should be used as bird-cage lining. Utter rubbish.
They’re nice shoes. James Connolly himself would have worn them.
Conflicting opinions? In a newspaper??
Technically I think the article is correct. If you annoy Dunnes by trying to stand up for half decent working conditions they will kick your ass out of the store. Wouldn’t be their mate though.
The utter sh*t quality of writing in that IT piece is making me feel ill.
And fashion bloggers are probably the most useless and vacuous entities going.

“is this not massively inappropriate?”
No, wtf?
‘Kicking ass’ ugh. Talk about lowering the tone in the IT, it’s turning into the Indo.
It’s a lifestyle piece, not an analysis of the situation in the Middle East, in fairness.
In fairness nothing matters in the scheme of things, you know in fairness why even bother have an opinion on anything, in fairness. lifestyle like in fairness like.
Kicking assad this season?
The article was possibly written several weeks ago, before the current strikes.
Or maybe it was just an unfortunate choice of words.
Or maybe they really, really support the Dunnes’ management position? – even if this is the case, someone having a different opinion would hardly constitute “massively inappropriate”.
+1 all features sections like the ticket are written weeks. Having said that it should have been caught by the features editor and removed because describing Dunnes as “kicking ass” at the moment makes you sound like you don’t read your own paper.
and that’s a surprise is it?
Should the Irish Times adopt an editorial line on the Dunnes row and then force all their writers, freelancers included, to adhere to it? Should lifestyle and fashion pieces, such as this one printed on page 19 of the newspaper’s entertainment supplement, be policed to ensure it’s in line with that position?
No, thankfully. This is not massively inappropriate. It’s not inappropriate at all.

An unfortunate (and crass) choice of words irrespective of the Dunnes angle.
What is unfortunate and/or crass about it ?

What’s with all the post deletin’?! Rubbing some SF loving funny bones are we?!
Expecting quality writing in an Irish fashion article is somewhat optimistic. About as optimistic as expecting it in a fashion/food/mum blog.
Do they by any chance have a full page ad in the paper ?
