Rachel Riley on Channel 4’s Countdown to be broadcast this afternoon
[Myleene] Klass, who has also worked as a model, TV presenter and released several classical music albums, told host Nick Hewer: “I got a rude one. It’s an eight… gobsh**e.”
But the word received the seal of approval from veteran dictionary corner expert Susie Dent, who confirmed it was “chiefly Irish” and “vulgar slang”.
Not Klassy! Myleene Turns Air Blue On Countdown With ‘G******e’ (Telegraph)

The guest never get their own words, they are prompted by ear piece and have a screen in front of them. Lots of people in a room doing the actual brain work.
No offense to yer wan but if you swapped the g and the s and gave her one hour she wouldn’t come up with gobshite.
“Yer wan” is a classically trained pianist, harpist and violinist and widely accepted as a bit of a brainbox in the UK.
Suppose the pretty girl who does de numbers can hardly add too? Nice bit of stereotyping there..
Plus, Mylene’s in ‘Dictionary Corner’ with bukes to hand …and not a contestant.
(Yes, I did have to write ‘bukes’…. fupp off! Ya gobshite!)
None taken, I’m sure.
You say ‘brain work’? I say thinking.
I say would, you say wood.
No Klass at all.
I’ll get me coat.
Top of the mother-f**king morning to ya
I resent it being described as “vulgar slang”. How about “wonderful slang”? A great word.
you are some gobpoo
it is wonderful :-)
Also, if memory serves me, (and it quite possibly doesn’t) wasn’t Ms Klass married to an Irish bloke for a number of years? Think he was a bouncer / rock ‘n’ roll security operative or some such. So she would consequently have surely been in the room when the “G” word was used. Judging by the form of the ex she may even have used the word frequently herself. God bless the Daily Mail.

Rachel Riley AND Myleene Klass?
Think i’ll be working from home today
Countdown sure know how to pick em, vordermans still got a shelf in my heart
“a shelf in my heart” :)
You have a collection on display in that heart of yours, Jimmy?
Time to run out of the office on an errand…
And they said Jack would never get any work once the Fr Ted series came to an end. Who’s laughing now?
Put your clothes back on Carol!!!
shame wasted on the afternoon crowd, that would be right up the street of the “8 out of 10 cats does countdown” crew
Shame they missed out on “Gobshited” for the full 9 letters.
Gobshited Verb: To gobshite a person. Use: After Seamus sprayed his cat with water the cat gobshited all over the shop.
