Dublin Bus workers stopped for a minute outside Dublin Bus Head office as they marched towards the Dáil starting the first of two planned 48-hour strikes. The dispute is over a plan to put 10% of bus routes out for private tender. The workers are concerned that if more routes are opened up to the private sector in the future, it could trigger a deterioration in the pay and conditions of members.

I hope the Gardai dont arrest too many of them …
Surely [redacted] will lob in a tender?
Whereas a monopoly has ensured no fare increases, no reduction in services and a GREAT deal for taxpayers.
I assume SIPTU has another planning permission in for that huge advertisement? Like the rest of the banners they put up illegally?
Yes to privatisation and kill the unions. Troublesome bunch.
Some day you’ll make connection between yourself and the rest of society.
Oh pity the highest paid bus drivers in Europe. €50k p.a. is just inhumane. My heart bleeds.
Roll on privatisation. I genuinely hope their daftly generous pay and conditions are eroded and their inefficient, exploitative monopoly utterly destroyed. It’s exactly what that shower of rude, entitled incompetents deserve for so regularly holding the country to ransom.
Those who call for the end to Unions, tell me this. Who negotiates on your behalf with a bank of HR executives across the table from you?
How are unscrupulous and bullying employers prevented from forcing employees to work illegal hours in illegal working conditions?
How is your pay and conditions negotiated in a large retail corporate?
How is your holiday and leave entitlements protected against constant and persistent undermining by accountants or third party employment consultants who get a commission for every euro they save an employer?
Don’t be so short sighted. Greedy faceless employers see employees as the enemy and they are always out to undermine their rights and force down their salaries and working conditions.
I AM an employer and have been for 14 years. But I’m not a C**T because people’s wellbeing is more important than an extra grand in my pocket here and there.
we need the Bobs to a rank and file review of Bus management.

there’s definitely savings to be made where the fat/gravy is the thickest.
SIPTU unashamedly on NO side then? broadsheet, attack…
Are they having to walk cos there’s no buses on?
