Yes it is horrible that an 18 year old lost their life but 1 death does not need a tabloid crusade.

Condolences to all friends and family, horrific time for them.
As regards coverage, not often we see stories about the harm alcohol does, but then that’s a taxed drug generating income for newspapers. Class surely has a lot to do with why this is front page news too. Cant see how media coverage would be any good for friends and family ; can’t understand that aspect of such coverage; seems cruel. Surprised the IT is covering it.

Why would you be surprised that the IT covered it? The IT lost its paper of record status years ago, and is on more than nodding status with gutter journalism on numerous stories in the last few years.

Why is the IT getting a hard time for covering this when it’s not actually covering this?

It’s a tragedy for her family, such a huge loss.

On the topic of media coverage, if this happened to a not-so-attractive northside girl, would it be front page news?

    1. Mr. T.

Perhaps but the inference would be that it was her own fault. And it would be front page on the broadsheet papers as a veiled chastising of the working class.

    headline: “ecstasy”
    article: “PMMA” ie. not ecstasy.

of course, little-known toxic chemical doesn’t have the same hysterical sensationalism as “dodgy ecstasy” or “killer batch”

    1. ReproBertie

Do people ask for ecstasy or PMMA? Tha’t s a genuine question, not some sort of snarky way to make a point. I don’t know what the kids do be at with these days.

      1. ZeligIsJaded

        Neither I would imagine.

I would think they ask for a ‘pill’, or something to that effect.

In a more sensible world, they would know exactly what they are taking.

The current state of affairs mean they take what they are given.

Remember when your parents told you not to eat the sweets given to you by strangers? Still applies as you get older unfortunately.

Working class tabloids all over teen death. Middle class broadsheets prefer to look the other way.

    1. Clampers Outside!

So, not turning it into some intentionally irresponsibly misdirected sensationalist ‘e’ story on the front page means they are not covering it.

You’re better than that Mr T

It is being reported this morn that this is not a case of bad drugs but more then likely another very sad case of sudden adult death syndrome.

I know a woman in her early 40s who spikes her friends drinks with MDMA. She’s also done it to a couple of more distant female members of her social group in the hope of copping a good old feel. She’s a perv. Right weirdo. She’ll get her reward some day soon.
