FG had the opportunity to abolish the USC in last October’s budget. They didn’t.
I believe they said at the time something along the lines of doing that would be mad, when it’s such a big chunk of the budget.

Will they also do posters and bring them along to the R2W National Protest on Saturday and do a couple of posters entitled, “Lets get prosperity going” abolish Water Tax and Property Tax.
Given the current state of public opinion it would not surpise everyone if they did.
It’s unpopular to say but the USC is a progressive tax that should be kept (if reformed).
With PAYE higher earners get to offset expenses like travel cards and bike to work schemes at the top rate. Low earners offset at the lower rate and end up paying more for the same service.
With USC there are no reliefs that unfairly benefit high earners.
According to their website’s calculator those numbers don’t add up for me.
