How Zappone can prop up a government that does this, is beyond me. Actually, it isn’t, she’s an opportunist.
Props or crutches as limps towards the cliff edge.
Ara, sure haven’t they asked us 12 times already and we said no each time.
i met a bloke in the pub last week carrying 9 pints and he said that we’d been asked 14 times, acksherly…
the Dail is the citizens assembly!
The Dáil is the citizens assembly for easy decisions.
The citizens assembly is for hard decisions.
Labour made hard decisions in the last Dail and got decimated for it.
I mean someone had to decimate the incomes of single mothers and abolish the concept of an entry-level paid job.
What alternative government could have been formed at the last election that would have tackled this issue with any more haste?
All the strongly pro-choice parties were terrified of trying to form a government and just looked at their shoes when the time came.
Zappone is not stupid. She realises that this is her best bet to get a referendum.
That was a reply for Lisa.
On behalf of Katherine Zappone. ‘Vote Zappone – if you were running, she’d vote for you!’
have to agree with this
Does Zappone even want abortion rights? She’s in favour of repealing the 8th, but whenever anyone dares ask her what type of abortion rights she supports she refuses to answer. And now she’s propping up a government that is throwing women to a ‘constitutional convention.’ But Zappone’s got a ministry, so all’s fine and dandy.
This one could tackle it with more haste.
Enda thinks repeal would not pass. Fair enough. He does realise that his opinion on this matters not a jot? The only way to know whether it would pass or not is to hold a referendum, and his opinion is no reason to delay doing so.
I was 13 when it was introduced, I haven’t had a chance to give my formal opinion on it yet. Just waiting on the opportunity to do so. #Repealthe8th
We don’t get to approve each article of the Constitution once per generation. Maybe we should, but we don’t. #keepthe8thsure
oh here we go – we’ve not had any disinformation from Your Trolliess in at least 2 days
Trolliness
Trollies.
“We don’t get to approve each article of the Constitution once per generation.”
Edmund Burke would say Constitutions were useless since such things as ethics and morality change with each generation!
I was 7.
ditto.
+1
I was 7 myself..
Nobody cares as you are an insufferable know it all.
I was trying to say ditto.. but ditto is a bad word apparently.
Or was it me? Am I on the naughty list… :)
i think it was you. aren’t you always on the naughty list?
Not always, no. :)
Girls are supposed to be nice and polite… so I’ll be as nice as I can here..
Why does that fupping baffoon think his opinion should be respected?
And why would he commit to making such a claim, when he’ll only look like more of an idiot than he already is if the thing is repealed?
He seriously shouldn’t open his mouth without checking with his advisors first.
Agreed.
He isn’t the brightest.
Citizens Assembly agrees to set up a Citizens Assembly.
First act of the new Citizen’s Assembly’s Citizen’s Assembly should be to establish a Citizen’s Assembly for the Citizen’s Assembly’s Citizen’s Assembly to aid it in it’s work.
We need to continue this Russian Doll strategy until we’re ALL members of at least one Citizen’s Assembly. Then we can just vote in our respective Citizen’s Assembly’s to repeal the 8th.
Seamless statescraft.
Wish people would get off the 8th business and focus on full abortion rights, if the 8th is repealed it will likely be years to get politicians/media on the issue of full abortion rights
We can’t bully them into it with their figleaf of the 8th though.
What is “full abortion rights”?
Repeal of the 8th is the first step towards access to abortion in Ireland.
Whoever (or did anyone ever?) said football and abortion should never mix hasn’t seen this !

setting up citizens assembly to absolve himself of any responsibility…snivelling sleeveen coward
It’s not up to him to second guess the electorate. He isn’t very good at predicting how people will vote anyway if the last election is anything to go by.
Don’t like abortion? Then vote to keep the 8th.
Don’t mind abortion? Then vote to get rid of the 8th.
Simples.
Kenny perfectly illustrating how out of touch with the public he is.
