Garda Commissioner Noirin O’Sullivan and Minister for Justice and Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald
As was confirmed in a statement by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs this afternoon, Minister Zappone became aware in mid-January of an issue affecting Sgt McCabe which related to her Department.
As the statement points out Minister Zappone has taken and is taking a number of steps to deal with this matter.
She informed me in January that she intended to meet with Sgt McCabe. She of course did not inform me about any details in relation to confidential Tusla records.
The Terms of Reference of the proposed Commission put before the Oireachtas by me refer specifically to a complaint of criminal misconduct against Sgt McCabe and whether this allegation was used against him.
I have always been scrupulous to avoid any comment in the Dáil on what was at issue in the criminal complaint against Sgt. McCabe, referred to in the terms of reference.
Had I put into the public domain anything which indicated or implied the nature of the complaint against Sgt McCabe I would be rightly open to criticism.
At the heart of the issues to be examined by the Commission is whether senior Gardaí were involved in a campaign to use information to damage Sgt McCabe.
I agreed to take on board amendments designed to put beyond doubt that the examination of any smear campaign would not be confined.
Just as my colleague Minister Zappone is dealing with the serious matters relating to her area of responsibility, I am proceeding to finalise the terms of reference of the Commission of Investigation arising from Mr Justice O’Neill’s report.

Phrases carefully padded out. It wouldn’t be confidential to inform and receive information that a Tulsa report was being discussed (nor the contents). But we are talking about ministers here, and I doubt the confidentiality aspect applies as it would not be discussed in the public domain. I think Ma. Fitzgerald needs another break at some 4 or 5 star hotel in the southeast again.

What is the issue here? Is Zappone perfect because she is a homosexual who fought for equal rights and marriage equality? No actually. She’s a flawed individual who showed us she was a perfect TD when she re routed her journey into work so it would be worth an extra €20k per year ( that’s €40k+ per year gross for us wage slaves). This whole thing is a disgrace. The government should fall. O’Sullivan has to go. Again I’m ashamed to be Irish.
O’Sullivan is the one playing the gender identification game here, not Zappone. She and her relaxed-fit men’s slacks wardrobe need to be fired out of office now.
In fairness, the issue is NOT with Zapper. The issue is an organized witch hunt against McCabe organized by members of the Gardai, a collaborator in Tusla, and their friends in RTE.
The casualities that need to be inflicted are in the Gardai (name them, prosecute them), Tusla (name that counsellor now, sue in a personal capacity), and in RTE.

Zappone wasn’t the one smearing McCabe’s name. If the administration collapses it won’t be Zappone’s fault but that of the Gardai, Tusla, and their confederates in RTE.

Scum isn’t the word for everyone who played any hand act of part in this saga. What they are is ‘fupping evil scum’ for what the arms of the state did to Seargeant Mc Cabe and other whistle blowers. FG might be in Government but they are being kept in power by FF. Never forget what FF have done to this country.

there’s a multitude of people calling for O’Sullivan to ‘stand aside’ .. that sounds more like something you’d say to someone who just can’t really do their job, like you dont want to sack them coz theyre trying, but theyre asked to stand aside .. only in this case, it shouldn’t be up to her, evidence shows she’s acted in her job in a dispicable manner, trying to destory to life of a man and subsequently, his family also. thats a little more than a sackable offence in my opinion. for me its a sacking and being brought to court. court for two reasons (1) she should be punished as it was a crime what she did, and (b) show anyone else acting brashly and illgeally in a state job that it wont be tolerated.
