Digtial age of consent raised to 16

It’s largely unenforceable and teens will ignore it.
      Anyone remember Bebo?

      So why do it?
It is consistent with teens not being allowed to enter legal contracts. The higher age will have consequences for companies like Facebook and Google, so they cannot knowingly target under 16s without parental consent. (Apple makes money selling fashion gadgets and does a lot less evil spying than other companies.) It is still unlikely to cause them anything more than minor annoyance, the ad machine will continue.

It was never anything other than 16 to begin with. GDPR allows countries to set their own Digital Age of Consent, between 13 & 16, but if they choose not to it’s 16 by default.
