Last time Neil Young played Ireland (2013 at RDS) he completely alienated all but the hardest core of fans with 90 minutes of choppy, feedback-laden, dirge-like renditions of his lesser-known tracks.
He’s got married in the meantime, so maybe he’ll be more mellow, but don’t go expecting ‘Harvest Moon’.
The sound at that gig was awful. The hanging speakers at the side of the stage were swinging around in the wind. Neil was playing with his band, Crazy Horse, people’s own fault that they didn’t know their work. Concert goers who go to gigs and be like “JUST PLAY THE FLIPPIN’ HITS”, can get lost.
It was quite a stormy evening, indeed.
I saw him play around 10 years ago (Malahide) and he did a ~23 minute long solo, I think from Chrome Dreams. I was definitely not after just the hits, and was off my face, but it was a bit much.
He’s unreal.
Didn’t read your last 6 words.
I think you’ll find the last time Neilers played Ireland was in 2016, so you might want to change your online handle, or whatever ye kids call it these days.

Why thank you.
Improvement is a continuous process.
Harvest Moon
“When we were strangers,
I watched you from afar”
Nigel will be along in a minute to tell everyone Harvest Moon is a stalking song and should be banned because of those lines.

Please note: this is a joke, satirising the nonsense that Oh Baby, it’s Cold Outside is a date-rape song.
It may not be a great joke, but I made it anyway, for the craic :)
Clamps, please, for the love of god.
Get over it.
Ah now Millie, you crazy horse. I’ve nothing to get over, but I’ll leave it be, just for you ;)
Yeah, but I believe it was Crazy Horse that was here that time in 2013 and not Neil Young solo, let the buyer beware.
“, but don’t go expecting ‘Harvest Moon’.”
Or: don’t be ‘After the Oldstuff’ ?
Did you see Frank Sampedro giving the crowd the finger at the end of their set in the RDS? Don’t think it was the lads’ fault though. Bad weather + poor venue + indoor PA rig being used outdoors = not good value for money. Fairly terrible atmosphere post gig if I remember rightly.
Remember that alright. Was like the crowd was made up of Bruce Springsteen fans.
yawn! average age 83 …new year old music
Two Grumps Who Hate You: Kilkenny, July 2019!
Dylan was superb at Nowlan Park last time, was really up for it and sounded great, saw him at the point a few years later and it was like some tramp hobbled up on stage pretending to be Dylan but didn’t know any of the words. Watch out for the queue getting out of the car park up there, think we were stuck for over an hour before even getting out the gate!
And we’re still waiting for Pearl Jam confirmation for Malahide around the end of June. If the Young Dylan gig was earlier in July I’d put my money of Young doing a guest appearance with PJ as they’re good buds
Are we? I’ve never seen them live despite being a BIG FAN back in the day. If only Eddie Vedder had been a foot taller, hah? I’d have made mincemeat outta him.
Now I’m feeling sad because you mentioned big friends of Eddie’s and I’m thinking of Chris Cornell.
Chris Cornell is dead.
WHAT?!?
I saw them live this year with someone who didn’t know or really care for them. Now she is a huge fan. 3 and a half hours of them and the audience having the time of their lives together. go.
we’d all go gay for Eddie

I love that Into the Wild album. I love Temple of the Dog. I listened to the Singles soundtrack on the way home because you reminded me of them.
To be honest I really should be living in Seattle in 1992.
