Swab And Go [Updated]

at

This morning.

The first swab at a drive-thru rona test centre opened earlier at Dubln Airport and operated by private healthcare company Rocdoc, which offers the service to people who have not been referred by a GP.

A walk-in test centre will open next week, and they will allow Dublin Airport to process up to 12,000 tests per day in the run up to Christmas.

You give them money.

They stick a thing up your nose.

Win/win.

public/free/bit sketchy/likely catch it standing in line.
“Testing is free to all eligible New Yorkers as ordered by a health care provider or by calling the NYS COVID-19 hotline at 1-888-364-3065.
If you go to a test site run by New York State, there is never any charge for your test.”

So, you don’t actually need this to fly though yeah?

Is it just for people who want it or does it give less quarantine time in the country your visiting or what?

Apart from the fact it is a PCR test which in low incidence populations is probably about the same chance as rolling a dice, how long does it take for the result to come back?

What is the point of being told you are positive when you are on a plane to somewhere?

        Fake News
Rolling a specific number on a dice is 16⅔ %.
PCR tests in low incidence populations have never shown 16⅔ % positives.

In Ireland for most of July testing was showing <0.3% positives.

Regardless of the efficacy of PCR tests

Is there any point to getting this done? Do you have less quarantine on the other side etc?

Back in my day it wasn’t:

    ”You give them money.

They stick a thing up your nose.”

After money changed hands you’d have to stick whatever you purchased up your own nose.

People these days want everything done for them!

    Good luck to them.
I presume they chose the airport because of the big empty car parks – a quick look at Cork Airport’s website shows not a single flight leaving or arriving today and only one tomorrow.

Testing at the airport gives the impression that you do a quick test before your flight and then depart the country. However, currently it takes at least 24 hours to get the results – so really, for departing passengers the test centre could be located anywhere. Dublin city centre, for example, might be more useful.
Some countries – like Greece – need passengers to already have passed a Covid test before they arrive. Its not about quarantining. If you are positive, you don’t get in. If you are negative, you can arrive and no quarantining is required.
