When a state has failed like Afghanistan I would imagine it would be completely justified to send in an armed contingent to remove our citizens. Even if its not, we should do it anyway, to the extent that there is no time to dick around.
God i hate agreeing with the daily mail.

I’m not sure what a couple of dozen Irish soldiers, who’ve never been to the country before in their lives and have no links, intelligence assests or equipment there would add to the occasion.

If anything, better to send someone who can just figure out and get around the admin mess on the ground.

      1. scottser

Well it wouldn’t be a couple of dozen. If it is a question of numbers then why aren’t NATO or the UN getting stuck in?
Stuck in. I sound like the express now..

Irish troops have operated in Afghanistan for the last 20yrs….i served in Kabul in ’04 as part of ISAF/NATO….the Defence Forces are very well informed on the operations in the region.

It’s so heartbreaking. I can’t even imagine the desperation in handing your children over a fence knowing you might not see them again. Cruel scenes.

Very sad story of woman in Derry dying of Covid shortly after giving birth. Her husband then pleading with people to get the jab.

    1. Spot of Bodge

Don’t be so naive, it’s clearly a false flag operation. The 5G is likely the actual cause. But she probably died with 5G as opposed to with 5G. Sincerely SOQ, et al.

‘Get Irish troops to Kabul’ and charter a Ryanair Boeing 737 to get Irish nationals out of that hellhole.

Sickening story about that family killed in the head on collision.

The story says the man who drove the wrong way had serious mental health issues.

So essentially a seriously mentally ill man was likely just let wander around unwell until this happened?

An entire family wiped out because that man probably couldn’t access mental health services. I truly despair sometimes. Talk about a preventable tragedy.

    1. Verbatim

That comment was worth saying twice! Just last week a young man was on here on BS asking if anyone had any contacts for help with serious mental health issues. Have you noticed that we have all the “woke” lingo in place, but the reality is, behind it all, there is a lot of superficiality. BUT, don’t give up the fight, sometimes help comes in surprising ways!

I wonder how many of them are elderly, with weak immune systems, vaccinated in the first rounds, 8 months ago?

      1. E'Matty

Wouldn’t that be the very same vulnerable group who were always most impacted by Covid? Elderly with serious underlying conditions.

      2. Bitnboxy

Exactly SB. Double vaccination still means that for those with weak and already compromised immune systems, they remain at a heightened level of risk of getting seriously ill. This is similar to flu. The flu vaccine gives good protection for those with normal immune systems capable of producing the required antibodies to fight off more serious infection but even with the flu vaccine, if you have a weak immune system you may not be able to flight off a flu infection to the same extent of those vaccinated folks with healthier immune systems. A lot of those in hospitals now have such compromised immune systems, even though doubly vaccinated.

And the above is the type of basic and obvious point you won’t get from troll-layabouts like mad auld lad GiggidyGums whose only raison d’être on here is to try (and inevitably fail) to get one over on their perceived bêtes-noir, Cian, Boxy etc.

        Still, Giggidy-mad-auld-lad is good for a wind-up.

        1. SOQ

So we have gone from unquestionable efficacy rates of 95%+ as cited by pharma to now that they probably don’t work on people with poor immune systems, but you should still risk your health and get it anyways- even though you will probably remain just as infectious.

          That makes no sense whatsoever.

  6. Mr T

NPHET want all children vaccinated before we lift any more restrictions – despite risk of teachers catching for pupils to get relatively low (and vaccinated people can still transmit the virus).

Given young children are at an almost negligible risk from covid – when does this lunacy end? Until we’ve vaccinated all house pets and farm animals?

    1. GiggidyGoo

They’ll be having vaccination centres outside the two sexual organs next to vaccinate sperm before copulation.

          1. GiggidyGoo

Why do you need to be reminded? I’ve already said why I took it – can you not take in information or what?

Now, you tell me why (after me getting it) you think I’m anti-vax. Simple question that you avoid and avoid

          2. bisted

…sorry to disappoint but I’m still here…just curious how you reconcile taking the vax with the positions you’ve taken this weekend…did you square it with the other ratlickers?

          3. GiggidyGoo

What VAX ‘positions’ are you talking about? (Hint – stating a fact isn’t taking a position. Over to you)

And did you manage to find where I gave the reason for me taking the vax?

          4. bisted

…have to say I was astonished when you said you got jabbed because you didn’t want anything standing in the way of your hols…especially with how you feel on the efficacy of the vaccine…

          5. GiggidyGoo

So you didn’t find it then, and had to make something up?
            Talk about squirming.

            Busted flush there Bisted.

More smoke than that from the tyres of a boy racers donut.

          6. GiggidyGoo

Busted flush. Good lad Bisted. Enlightening conversation. Must be really taxing on your brain eh?

          7. bisted

…@Man On Fire…nice of you to notice…there was a few months where it seemed pointless to comment because even the most innocent remarks were cancelled…I feared this was on the basis of a complaint made about me by a pro government shill but also I had fallen foul of the moderators.
I’ve been here a long time and been consigned to the naughty step many times but it used to be fairly democratic until the pandemic started…now, if you are on the right side of argument you can get away with murder…
Also, I had a message from Bodger to assure me that I hadn’t been cancelled…and I like Bodger…

          8. bisted

…I still haven’t gotten over the self-disgust I feel at having worked for Ruairi Quinn and having been taken in by the fine rhetoric of Gilmore and Rabitte…Ivana Baciks election and presence at Zappones Merrion gig just confirms my belief that the movement for change has missed their chance…how could I have been so naive…never again…nice to be aligned with proper socialists like Paul Murphy though…
