At least they got a nice day for it…
Where does “The first day of workers returning to offices” come from? It is supposed to be the 20th.
George, thanks, fixed now.
It’s all a bit of a farce though isn’t it. A large amount of people have been back working in offices for months now, and there are more and more each day. Companies aren’t waiting until September 20th.
yes Jon the whole thing is a gigantic farce but it’s not as if we could have turned around in May or June 2020 and said ‘sorry lads it’s all big farce let’s just get on with it. Sure that would be mad!
Ah remember back then Frank. Seems quaint now
We’d all say back then “any day now, people will stop this madness”
Still waiting…
Simple times!!
It’s a slow process Micko but I really believe more people are seeing this isn’t quite right. You have to be hopeful don’t you…. DON’T YOU?
A lot of people (nearly everyone) was mugged off with this tripe. It’s a long road back…. THERE IS A ROAD BACK ISN’T THERE (pulls at where hair once was)

Great to see. Let’s get everyone back soon.
People won’t forget your nasty post on Sunday Tom and not the first one from you.
Look who forgot to change identities. ROFL
What’s going on there? Is he fake trolling himself?

Tomson twins, Aka Doppelclanger…
A case of simply not taking care to look and see what username he’s currently using. Or else, something deeper. https://www.webmd.com/balance/why-people-talk-to-themselves
Or Narcissism even.
oh my god…
can I get a Tom3, any advance on Tom4?
Satnav even
RIP tom2
I won’t be going back full time, ever.
Remote working for me from here on in, if it means switching jobs, so be it.
Yeah some people I work with feel like that. I did like the convenience of working from home for a few months, but I started to hate the non separation of work and home, in the same living room! I’m back at our offices a few weeks now and already I feel more sociable, and having the craic with workmates in person always makes you feel good. Lunch options are great again. The commute is taking some getting used to, but its not too bad at 30 mins or so.
+ 1 on the lunch options and the separation of church and state.
It stopped being “working from home” and is now “living in work”
That is so true
I was remote before it all kicked off. Just has a monstrous amount of international travel. I don’t intend to travel until 22 and nowhere near the same frequency as I did before. Any that’s just the way I want it.
I’ve been in Portugal for a couple of months, didn’t travel until my second Vax, PCR test, before travel, antigen test before my return to Ireland – negative. I got a Covid alert text today. I’ve been in contact with someone who is positive on Saturday. I’ve a PCR test booked for tomorrow. I was in a Government building on Saturday in Belfast. I was asked the routine Covid questions, to protect their employees. I didn’t ask the routine questions from the government employee, who is positive for the goddamn virus. Kinda Furious Shayna will let you know my result.
will we be seeing Kinda Furious Shayna on Saturday circa 7pm?
As promised, Slave to the Rhythm – update, Shayna has been tested negative. It seems I need another PCR test on Sunday. Yes, Shayna has a ticket, Upper Deck Hogan. Tir Eoghain Abu and all the rest of it. It’ll be a happy Shayna @7pm. (Good luck to Mayo, also!)
There is going to be a big shake up in the employment market once things return to ‘normal’ because some people won’t want to return to “normal”. Home working was forced into sectors which were traditionally resistant and while some people do need to be on-site- a lot was unnecessary.
So now people are questioning the need to spend 2-3 hours a day on a stuffy train or car wishing their lives away- because it’s time and money better spent elsewhere. A five day office week will be viewed as very old fashioned and dated soon I suspect.
Ah yeah. You can’t really blame people for not wanting to go back to the office.
Too much time commuting wasting their lives away, but as Junkface pointed out there is a certain level of social aspect to being in an office.
I havn’t worked in an office for a long time (pre-rona) but I wonder now will the people who are physically in the office get all the promotions and raises.
Just like RTE – give the job to whoever’s in front of ya in the canteen.
It’s why half of them still have jobs. ;-)
Pretty sure RTÉ employees are not representative of anything other than being 2-4 above their pay grade and lack of anything other than connections.
What is the RTÉ trade union’s policy on mandatory jabs every six months and tablets twice a day?
only half?
I’m reminded of a recent post on WWN. “I can’t be f****d”, claimed a local Waterford man.
Tyronavirus much, huh?
