It’s a dual protest though, by definition they’re also supporting the right of citizens not to have medical procedures mandated by the State.
    Ratlicking, anti-vaxxer, far right scum!

I blame the parents, if they had used the same terminology they wouldn’t be there to protest.

The time has occurred. One can’t terminate a pregnancy years after it’s already terminated with a live birth.

To whom are you refering when you say is that what a full term fetus looks like? You spelled it American so maybe you’re picking a fight far from home.

Dont forget .. Thomas didn’t believe Jesus so then he tried to make it up to him. Jesus didn’t care. The damage was done.

I’m referring to the people in the pictures. As regards picking a fight far from home, no I’m not far from home and as for your Bible bashing it won’t work with me.

        1. Darren

It’s not bible bashing .. just recalling a valuable lesson for followers… And obviously you are not right about those full term comments… These people pictured are adults .. a number of developmental stages beyond new born

The sheer lazy cynicism of trying to co-opt the abortion slogan, the same way they attempt to co-opt personal freedom and the Holocaust, shows how deeply unserious and culture-war driven this anti-vaxx campaign is.

‘Do try to keep Nigel dear.’

When you use the Holocaust for internet one-upmanship. An unserious, shallow and artificially magnified movement.

          3. hmmm

            *Brings up the Holocaust

*Attacks another commentator for bringing up the Holocaust

            *Complains about internet one-upmanship

There are attempts to make the photo here showing protesters become about something that fits in with another narrative. They are painful to see because they highlight and seek to exploit existing divisions but they also express clearly why it is still now worth making public the continued stance regards a woman’s right to abortion. Calling into question the legitimacy or planned nature of your fellow human’s birth is just pityful. Whatever values you hold for life, if you have it in you then that mean spirit will shine through when it is allowed. The obvious influence and financial reach of so called pro life american based organisations will now always find sincere opposition here but sadly it also appears to condemn a minority to a role of blind impotence regarding an issue long put to bed in much if not all of Europe. It is not surprising that in a state once dominated by the presumed shame for one another’s actions that there remains a vocal support for women who seemingly find themselves in similar social conditions which restrict their ability to choose. What’s surprising to me at least is some of the comments made regards the public reporting of this ongoing support.

Yes Tom j.. as opposed to those who engage knowingly in defeated and inopportune causes.. blind impotence .. its something that happens for persons of a certain disposition .. it seems to me particularly nasty to take an issue about women’s bodily autonomy and try to convert it into a comment on mask wearing .. not to mention immature … but that’s only if it’s done naively.. this protest obviously aims to challenge mindsets which have been emboldened by events in the US ..

      1. Darren

Quaking in boots.. ? Genuinely though.. why are commenters so opposed to the protesters in the pictures? Chris.. the Sampsons ..Tom J? and obviously the few comments about covid thrown in … but the general perspective of the protest not being worth much or the people involved being dismissed. So far as it seems there is a resurgence in the challenges to abortion provision as a safe an equal right of women here in ireland and the shifts in state policy in America are understandably going to provoke a reaffirming of the will to retain access to abortion for those who make that choice. So why the avoidance of this aspect on a post which only illustrates the fact of a protest taking place?

        1. Chris

I’m not opposed to free assembly, the right to protest etc. I’m merely commenting on the easily manipulated of the woke/climate/covid trifecta – and it’s ineffectiveness on those that inhabit free thought & still believe in empirical evidence.

          1. Darren

An alternative to free assembly and the right to peaceful protest is a return to clashes on the streets. Woke/ climate / covid trifecta.. ? It’s an abortion rights gathering.. not sure if that is falling into your woke category but the point still stands that for some reason almost every response elicited by this innocuous set of photographs is seeking to distract from or dismiss those pictured. And it seems no one can say why that is.. not even those who value empirical evidence .. yet here it is plain to see..

          2. Tom J

Abortion is not illegal in Ireland, so what’s the point of protesting here.
Things are legal in other countries that aren’t legal here. But you don’t see them protesting to make them legal in countries where they are not legal.

  4. Darren

Whatever about the need to protest on this issue there is surely no cause to seek to undermine the issue itself. But as can be seen from your previous comments Tom J .. this same legality is something you would wish to challenge and it is precisely sentiments like yours that are being opposed by these protests.

The distinct roles that men and women perform in human reproduction and the failure of politics to convey clearly why it is itself secondary to the lives of individual citizens.

      1. Chris

I gave a reasoned response here without even a hint of snark or insult. What gives? Am I being censored for ideological reasons? @ Bodger – if you could have a look into it please.
