I have seen one man and his bodhrán silence an entire venue, that man was christy – he has my respect.
during the show, a lady shouted “Nancy Spain – Christy PLAY NANCY SPAIN”, christy responsed I don’t mind requests but I Flipping hate demands !
I trhought to myself, what can I shout that might elicit a positive response from the tetchy troubadour.
“sing up christy” was all I could muster – I will so, he says and breaks into lisdoonvarna. I felt like king of the hill – it is the small things that make the biggest differences.
I have seen him play with declan sinnott – that is something fairly special on the right night
