In the Irish Film Institute in Temple Bar yesterday for a screening of the ironically-titled documentary Amazing Azerbaijan (2012) were from left: Liz Mermin (director), Aisling Ahmed and Rasul Jafarov.

The documentary (extracts above) takes a hard look at this oil rich/human rights poor country, ranked 156th out of 179 countries in Reporters Without Borders’  Press Freedom index.

Rasul is the Chairman of Human Rights Club Azerbaijan and the ‘Art for Democracy campaign’ and is in Ireland to discuss how the International community can provide help with these issues in the run up to the country’s upcoming presidential elections.
