Ever wanted to be a superhero without having to wear a cape?

From Belong To (the national LGBT  youth service):

It’s a simple enough idea. Every year we provide information and materials to schools that can help to explain the problems of homophobia and discrimination to both pupils and teachers alike. The schools are then encouraged to run events and raise awareness of bullying in their school. It’s a vital step towards helping stop homophobia – and helping young LGBT people to value their own identities and live happy, fulfilled lives.

But, to reach out to all 750 secondary schools across Ireland, we urgently need help from kind and compassionate people who are willing to Stand Up! Could you be one of these Superheroes? Will you help us reach out to vulnerable young people?

Exchequer Street Boy (James Kavanagh)!

As you’ve never seen him before (i.e. not tottering on large heels)

James joins others to extol the benefits of Belong To, Ireland’s national organisation for LGBT young people.

It was Belong To (and dramatic footwear) that helped make James the boy he is today.

Hugh Rodgers, of Belong To, writes:

Hoping you might post our film celebrating the 10th anniversary of Belong To, Ireland’s national organisation for LGBT young people.

Ten Years of BeLonGing’ is a short documentary which shares the reflections of some of Belong To’s allies over the last ten years including Emily Logan – Ombudsman for Children, Niall Crowley – former CEO of the Equality Authority, Senator David Norris, Cllr. Anna Quigley – Belong To Chairperson, Donal Óg Cusak – All Ireland Hurling Champion, and Frances Fitzgerald TD – Minister for Children & Youth Affairs. The video also features former young members of BeLonG To and contributions from staff on the work of the organisation over the last ten years.
