The not-at-all ambivalently named Hot Tug can accommodate eight people as a chunky regular boat.

Filled with 2000 litres of water, however, and allowed to heat (via an onboard stove) for three hours, it becomes a floating pool of hedonism which you can power out into the middle of a lake.

It’s available to rent (in the Netherlands) or to buy in several variants from €9,000 to €16,500.

A Dublin man is among six rowers who have been rescued from a life raft in the North Atlantic after their boat capsized.
26-year-old Aodhán Kelly (top) and five others from the UK, were taking part in the Atlantic Odyssey challenge to row from Morocco in north Africa to Barbados in the Caribbean aboard the Sara G.
They were 27 days into their journey when the 36ft vessel overturned at 11am yesterday, 520 miles from their destination.
Coastguards in Falmouth, Cornwall, said the rowers were picked up from the raft, which they had lashed to the hull of their overturned boat, at 1.10am by the Nord Taipei, a Panamanian-flagged cargo ship.

Like Corvettes? Got an unusually long driveway and $1.7million (€1.26million) to spare? Your luck’s in.

Built by Marine Technology Incorporated, this ZR1-inspired boat is constructed from carbon fiber and features lighting units from the legendary sports car. Elsewhere, there are gull wing doors, an electric sliding rear window and two turbocharged Mercury Racing engines that develop 1350 hp (1007 kW / 1369 PS).

Inside, the cabin has a full Corvette interior with an original steering wheel, instrument cluster and gear knob. Other highlights include leather seats, LED accent lighting and an 8000 watt audio system.

Since the boat is too big for most roads, it includes a custom trailer to haul it around.

The Skier-Controlled Tow Boat from gadgeteers, Hammacher Schlemmer.

A six-button control panel on the tow rope handle sends signals to the boat, allowing skiers to start, accelerate, decelerate, turn, or stop the vessel with slight thumb movements. The nearly 8′-long boat has a three-cylinder, two-stroke 70 horsepower engine with jet pump and axial flow propulsion, generating speeds up to 40mph.

The price: a mere $17,000. Buy one. Deserve to ski alone.

French artist Julien Berthier has created this fully-functioning and seaworthy model of a capsizing boat, complete with engine and rudder.

He may or may not be tooling around the high seas right now, sipping champers, waiting to be rescued.

Truly he is the Poseidon of all trolls.
