We have seen just 12.5mm of rain at Oak Park over the last 60 days, compared to 154.1mm over the same 60 days last year! Dublin Airport has seen 11mm in the last 60 days compared to 129mm last year.

The chart shows predicted accumulated rainfall for next 7 days!

Yikes.

Met Éireann extends drought warning into next week (RTE)

Alan O’Reilly, of Carlow Weather, writes:

Another scorcher of a day with my station already up to 24c at 12:20 as Carlow is the hottest spot in the country this lunchtime and it will get up to 27c this afternoon.

The overnight ECMWF model shows almost no rain for most areas for the next 10 days with just the risk of a light passing shower Wednesday and Thursday.

Drought conditions will worsen with hay fields like that in the photo not seeing any new growth. Soil deficit levels are up to 86mm off normal which means it would take 86mm of rain to get soil levels back to normal.

I’ll have an update later this evening with a full forecast, enjoy the weather but conserve that water 😁
