This Christmas.

Give the gift of part of a racehorse.

Eve Fitzgerald writes:

Are you struggling to find a Christmas present for the sports-mad guy or gal who has everything, or perhaps your Dad is notoriously hard to buy for? Well, look no further than the Irish National Stud’s new horse racing club for the perfect Christmas gift.

INS Racing makes the possibility of racehorse ownership a reality for those who previously thought it was something they couldn’t afford.

The club enables sports fans to come together and experience what it is like to ‘own’ a minimum of six racehorses, all for the annual cost of €399.

The gift is presented in a beautiful keepsake box and includes free racecourse entry to every meeting that includes an Irish National Stud declared racehorse in Ireland, regular trainer updates via a bespoke INS Racing app, access to yard visits, educational workshops, special events and, as a bonus, a share of the club’s prize money…

2019 calendar from the Irish Design Shop

Next year.

From the Irish Design Shop.

A pretty special 12 months.

Clare & Laura at The Irish Design Shop write:

Now an annual project, our calendar, printed in Dublin in small quantities, is one of our highlights every year.

The format remains the same, with perforated pages, giving you twelve ready to frame unique prints, the theme, chosen by the designer/illustrator, is what changes.

2018 is a significant year for Irish Design Shop, marking ten years in business. With this in mind, we asked Dublin design studio WorkGroup to create our 2019 calendar.

A year in development, WorkGroup have created a calendar which has a sense of continuity from month to month.

Inspired by birthstones, a classic and timeless illustration of the months of the year, this calendar represents their beautiful and varied colours through macro photography.

A cross section of locations across Dublin are represented, from the significant to the mundane.

Locations such as The War Memorial Gardens, The Pro Cathedral, and Shauna’s Pet Shop are referenced for their rich colours and textures, and as a symbol of everyday life for the modern Dubliner.

In fairness.

Give the gift of a wet plate portrait.

Louis Haugh writes:

I’m offering Wet Plate Collodion portrait vouchers for €50 run through The Darkroom in Dublin’s coolest hub; Stoneybatter.

Wet Plate Collodion is one of the oldest types of photography where a unique and once off image is made on a sheet of metal while the sitter watches.

It’s really cool and unusual. Perfect for photography buffs and anyone with a curious side. Above are a couple of plates I have made already…

Dates will be announced in the new year and slots for booking in will be made available for weekdays and weekends. People can collect their voucher from The Darkroom or have it posted/emailed wherever.
