My background is as a fashion graduate from NCAD. I started out working for the knitwear designer Lainey Keogh, and went on to design a concession collection for Topshop for two years before setting up my own label. All my pieces are knit from the softest and most luxurious Italian and Scottish yarns in my Dublin studio

I am inspired by textiles, interiors and colourists such as Kaffe Fassett and Matisse. The focus of my work is the emotional qualities of colour and yarn. How they make you feel, and their power to elevate your mood. I adore colour!

I’m selling my little ‘White Lady Christmas decorations’ (top) exclusively at the Dublin Christmas Flea today and all this weekend.

They were expertly cast for me by the outstanding Props Factory just a stone’s throw away off Sheriff Street.

They’re just a fiver and I’m giving all proceeds to Blood Bikes Dublin – an outstanding organisation offering practical support to families experiencing childhood cancer.

I am part of an art collective called Drawin’ Together and we are having an exhibition of our work in Studio 10 on Wicklow Street, Dublin 2 this Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 7pm (details at link below).

The show will feature original artwork from 24 artists, working in a wide variety of styles and mediums, from all over Ireland.

This is a great opportunity to meet up-and-coming illustrators, to pick up unique and affordable original artworks and also unique Christmas gifts in the pop-up shop of prints, cards and books.

We have also put a calendar together based around a single word, HOME. Each illustration is a unique interpretation of what that word means to each of us. ALL proceeds go towards the Dublin Simon Community and can be purchased at the exhibition or online here.

Gift the gift of ‘The Troubles’.

Maeve Convery, of the Merrion Press,  writes;

World-renowned Northern Irish photographer, Bobbie Hanvey, captured some of ‘The Troubles’ most defining and devastating moments. Bobbie is lauded as much for these photographs as he is for his iconic portraits of figures like Seamus Heaney, Gerry Adams, Brian Friel, and Ian Paisley.

Now, in the fiftieth year since the outbreak of hostilities, these photographs take on even greater resonance through the work/poems of Bobbie’s eldest son, singer-songwriter and poet, Steafán Hanvey in this beautiful hardback book entitled Reconstructions priced 19.95 (at link below).

Inspired by the photographs, that he often witnessed coming to life in the darkroom, Steafán’s memories of an out of the ordinary childhood are presented in a lyric poetry filled with startling imagery and insights that capture the wit, anguish, and dreams of the people of Northern Ireland.
