Behold: the 1966 Jaguar XJ13 – or rather, a 21st century recreation of – arguably – the best looking racing car Jaguar never made.

The XJ13 was the result of a stalled project to reinvigorate the company’s fortunes at Le Mans but the car never went into production and only one prototype was ever produced. Long, low, impossibly sleek and now remade – identical down to the last rivet by New Zealander Rob Tempero.

The reincarnated XJ13, complete with mid-mounted V12 displayed under a glass cowl, goes to auction at Monterey next month.
