The Hazrat Sultan mosque in Astana, Kazakhstan – built on a 27-acre site in classic Islamic style with traditional Kazakh ornamentation – opened in 2012 to commemorate the 14th anniversary of the founding of the country’s new capital city.
It can comfortably accommodate up to 10,000 people at prayer.
