Not the budgie?

The work of Belarus-born designer Vera Reshto who sez:

The theme for this cover was inspired by current weather conditions, winter and hibernation. I wanted it to be fun and playful with each of the characters animated differently. My favourite bit is the killing of the budgie.

By Paddy Dunne who sez:

My own version of the famous vintage ‘Ah! Bisto’ adverts of yesteryear. Knowing this Food Issue was going to be packed with content to get tummies rumbling, I’ve modernized the raggedy Bisto kids into two trendy young folks, not tempted by the wafts of a beefy broth but by this very issue of Le Cool!

By damn smooth hipster Alex Towers who sez:

I was waiting for a friend at the top of O’Connell Street [Dublin] and noticed how hectic the place is (buses, birds, biddies etc). But amid the all the fever the O’Connell monument in the middle was the one constant, a massive hunk of steely stoicism…I had this idea of combining lots of different photos taken from different spots and pasting them together to make a big hectic ‘panorama-collage’ (Panallage? Collorama?).

Woooooh.

By Kevin Corcoran who sez:

A while ago I found myself drawing odd little creatures hiding behind things, I could barely sign my name without adding one of these little guys in! So when It came to illustrating a spooky cover for Halloween I couldn’t resist to give them a home amongst the lettering.

This is a painting I did in 2010 called Silver Tip Symphony for an exhibition I had in Los Angeles the same year called Birdsong and Machine Sounds. I wanted to explore the idea of the archetypal couple in relationship to the environment and took inspiration from Classical art and Literature (Milton’s Paradise Lost).
