LÉ Roisin responded to a request to provide medical assistance and recover an injured fisherman approximately 200 nautical miles off Loop Head today. While on a Maritime Security and Defence patrol off the West coast, a distress signal was received by the LÉ Róisín regarding an injured crew man onboard a Russian fishing vessel. The Russian fishing vessel requested any vessel in vicinity with medical facilities onboard to give assistance. The casualty on the Russian fishing vessel was a 34 year old male with suspected fractures of the thigh and shoulder, head injury and shock.  Rescue Coordination Centre Valentia and Coast Guard Helicopter Rescue 115 responded as well as L.É. Róisín. L.É. Róisín was instructed to close the position of the casualty while the helo operation was launched.  L.É. Róisín transferred its medical and deck team onboard the fishing vessel, who assisted in providing medical care and managing the transfer of the casualty to the Coast Guard helicopter. 22/2/2017 Photo Defence Forces/RollingNews.ie

While on a Maritime Security and Defence patrol off the west coast, a distress signal was received by the LÉ Róisín regarding an injured crew man onboard a Russian fishing vessel.

The casualty on the Russian fishing vessel was a 34 year old male with suspected fractures of the thigh and shoulder, head injury and shock.
