A monument to World Cup match-outcome-predictor Paul the Psychic Octopus, who died last October, was unveiled this week at the Sea Life Centre in Oberhausen, Germany.

So farewell then, Paul the Octopus: the world’s most famous cephalopod mollusc.
The uncanny predictor of this year’s World Cup match outcomes was found dead this week in his aquarium in Oberhausen Sea Life Centre in Germany.
Stefan Porwoll, manager of the Sea Life Centre said:
‘He appears to have passed away peacefully during the night, of natural causes, and we are consoled by the knowledge that he enjoyed a good life here. We may decide to give Paul his own small burial plot within our grounds and erect a modest permanent shrine.’
