State of Exception.

Next Thursday, Friday and Saturday (March 22 – 24).

At the Project Arts Centre, at 7.30pm.

Projects Arts Centre writes:

Catherine Young Dance returns to Project with a powerful new dance work inspired by the experience of making work with refugees, asylum seekers and a journey to the Middle East. Young’s new work State of Exception takes us right to the heart of the necessity to reach across, connect and challenge the divides created by the State of Exception, to act, to make and to find home in the common that binds us all.

This powerful new dance, featuring a cast of outstanding Irish and international performers delves into the world of ‘the other’ to try understand and tear down the walls and borders that divide.

Meanwhile, on after Friday’s performance…

Ms Young writes:

“We are delighted to announce that a panel discussion will follow the Friday, March 23rd performance of ‘State of Exception’ at Project Arts Centre. Bryan Fanning, professor of Migration and Social Policy at UCD, will chair a discussion with Lucky Khambule [him off the telly!], head of MASI – Movement of Asylum Seekers in Ireland, Vukasin Nedeljkovic of Asylum Archive and Donnah Sibanda Vuma, Place of Sanctuary scholar at UL.”

Tickets: €14 – €16
