Japanese artist, Motoi Yamamoto uses salt to create incredibly detailed, and deeply personal, floor sculptures which he calls his ‘Labyrinths’.

The latest, which required 50 hours and a metric tonne of salt, seeps out from a brick tunnel at the Fondation Espace Ecureuil, a gallery in Marseille.

Salt is a traditional symbol of purification and mourning in Japan, and Yamamoto’s work honours the memory of his sister, who died from brain cancer 10 years ago. The intricate patterns are meant to represent eternity.

Oh, absolutely loads we should imagine. Too many to count. Happily you won’t have to. Politicalreform.ie have assembled a team of academics to rate the parties’ manifestos (see above) and will – in the months following the election – see if our new leaders have come good on their pledges.

They’re also looking for techies to help bring the reform card to life on the interweb. It’s not exactly burning cars on Kildare Street. But at least you won’t get coshed by a nightstick. For more details click here
