Sustained winds of up to Storm Force 10, with stronger gusts, will affect the northwest during today, but the rest of the country will not escape, with gales affecting most coastal areas.  A 144kph (78 knots) gust has already been recorded in Belmullet, Co Mayo.  A 132kph gust was recorded at Malin Head, Co Donegal at 2pm.
