The Mill apartment complex in Ballisodare: 75 apartments built on the site of an old mill on the Owenmore river about five miles from Sligo town.

Finished in 2006 with apartments starting “from”  €320,000. it was billed as “a property that simply has it all”

Things didn’t quite work out like that, as blogger Lenny from ZXCode discovered this week:

Sez Lenny:

“Its a shame that this place was built in place of the old mill which stood for over a century, but its a tragedy that it was not maintained and used to house someone. It must have cost between €5m and €10m to build and now its worth nothing. Water and electricity are cut off and the only sounds are the dying batteries in the smoke alarms. Remember that this development was pretty much finished and ready for tenants in 2006.”

Declan Walsh from Tullamore.

Playing this afternoon at the ‘Hags With The Bags’ sculpture on Lower Liffey Street, Dublin

Known to aficionados as the John Bonham of percussive cutlery, Declan orginally played the drums but a work accident (resulting in 5 steel pins in his right arm) meant he had to throw away his sticks.

He literally picked up the spoons in 2006 and has never looked back.

He’s a one-armed national treasure!

New York-based Professor Nouriel Roubini, who earned the moniker Dr Doom after correctly predicting the global recession and house price crash in America in 2005, said the strengthening euro was a grave concern for Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Italy and Greece.

“These are countries that are not competitive, they have large trade deficits and the euro becoming stronger and stronger is hurting their competitiveness and is hurting the resumption of economic growth.”

Whoa dude.

It’s like, you know, Friday.
