The Rip Cord concept offers a simple improvement on packing tape – replacing the time-honoured knife/key/thumbnail opening method with an inlaid thread.
Presumably, if the tape is misaligned and the rip cord doesn’t follow the seam, you just, eh, deploy the knife, key or thumbnail.
