Yanar Dag (Fire Mountain) in Azerbaijan is a natural gas fire that burns continuously on a hill of the Absheron Peninsula on the Caspian Sea. The gas emanates from vents in the sandstone formations of the area and can even be ignited on the surface of nearby streams, known as Yanar Bulaq (burning springs’).
