Remorselessly.

This afternoon

Legal Consultant to the ‘ProLife Campaign’ Caroline Simons (centre third left) with supporters (from left) Catriona Heffernan, Cora Sherlock, Seana Stafford, Maria Fogarty and Catriona Curran in front of a billboard for their new ‘Simple Truth’ campaign in Dublin, on the anniversary of the Government passing the Protection of Life During Pregnany Act.

Simple truth, you say?

FIGHT!

You cannot be in the centre of an even number of people.

    Also, they can fupp off.

    1. Llareggub

There’s a gap between her and the second person. That’s to symbolise the person that never was.

  2. missred

Simple truth, my hole! The above statement is neither truthful “Abortion is now available up to birth” (utter bollocks) nor can the issue of abortion be whittled down to short soundbites in their #simpletruth hashtags. F*ck off with your lying, oversimplified sh1te, PLC

    1. Jess

Im shocked.Shocked! that the pro-life lobby would actually lie about abortion.

I’ve definitely never seen that before

        1. ABM

Did you view the clip? You forgot to mention that the biggest liar of them all is Enda Kenny.

        1. ABM

They’re part of a campaign to promote pro-life values in modern Irish society. Fair play to them. I suggest you do your research and get to the bottom of the irrational bias in your brain that makes you think they’re all liars.

          1. Bobby

They are only “pro-life” under certain circumstances. I suggest you do your research and stop letting your bias dictate your opinion.

          2. ABM

Err… We all have biases. From which, we form opinions.

It’s when the bias is irrational (in your case) that the problems start.

          3. ahjayzis

Any bias not derived from Christ is by definition irrational. The Bible is the only foundation of rational social policy. Fiscal and judicial policy too.

…that’s my ABM impression. I can see why he likes his job! It’s liberating to talk such utter w@nk and not fear a follow up question ^_^

        1. ABM

Incorrect. Even countries that have been infected with extreme left-wing ideology have limits around 24 weeks. There are no such limits in Ireland.

          1. lounsey

            ABM –
The legislation provides for ‘procedures during which or as a result of which an unborn human life is ended’, and can only be provided if there is a real and substantial threat to the life of the mother *and* only if it is the *only* way to avert that risk. Common sense and basic knowledge of pregnancy will tell you that after the fetus is viable outside the uterus early delivery would be another option. Thusly, if a woman’s pregnancy needed to be ended to avert a risk to her life at 8 months they would deliver prematurely and both mother and baby would be looked after (insofar as our woejus medical system will permit)

You’re welcome. Ooh ooh try the suicide one next, gwan.

          2. ABM

Suicide? Have you been studying a load of stock replies or something? Desperate to put your new “knowledge” to use?

Anyway, when you lot were called up on the Pro Life campaign’s message being full of “lies”, you resort to abuse, irrelevant nitty-gritty and ignorance. Some of you even had a go at the womens’ appearance.

When you’ve figured out what the “lies” are, come back to me.

          3. ABM

            Hi lounsey.

You made the following quote: “‘procedures during which or as a result of which an unborn human life is ended’”.

That quote is not in the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Act 2013. I thought you must be paraphrasing some bit, but you weren’t doing that either.

It appears you’ve been caught talking out of your arse! One wonders what else you lot are wrong about. Well done!

          4. Nigel

Someone really should tell the women who travel to England every week that abortion is legally available to them now in Ireland. They’d be fascinated to hear it.

          5. ABM is a social misfit

ABM, It is from the recent guidelines you complete moron. Stay away from matters of which you haven’t a clue and never will. Oh and I have to laugh – barely 6am and you’re battering away at the keyboard, trolling your beer soaked heart out. Is this what normal, socially functional, healthy males of your age do? Perhaps the insomnia is getting to you. What a waste of a life, you poor wretch.

          6. ABM

It was quite clear that the quote was from “legislation”.

You don’t like when you’re called up on your own lies, do ye? (throwing stones in glasshouses…)

Anyway, you’ve made up quite an image of me in your head there aul pal. You’re so fundamental in your beliefs that you think anyone who disagrees with you is a social misfit/mentally ill/geriatric/depressed/sexually frustrated/blah/blah/blah. Do yourself a favour and get back to your programming. You don’t get paid for imagining what your online enemies do offline.

          7. Lounsey

            @ABM

It is indeed in the bill. HEre’s the exact wording

‘ It shall be lawful to carry out a medical procedure in respect of a pregnant woman in
accordance with this section in the course of which, or as a result of which, an unborn
human life is ended where’ (and thereafter follows the conditions which I also outlined)

            Nice try tho!

        2. ABM

Is this the best you can do? I have a very full day planned and subscribe to the old early bird adage. But I’ll be laughing at all of you beta illiberal liberals working frying your pro-abort pea-brains, all just for a pittance sending the bulk of your wages to a government more interested in killing babies than providing strong alpha males with an honest days work and pay. Like a true pro-abort, you have the temerity to suggest that I am somehow mistaken in pointing out the utter lack of restrictions on this perfidious and catastrophic abortion law which allows for even a baby of 9 months to be aborted by do-gooder obstetricians.

          1. Nigel

But you’re lying. The termination of pregnancies is severely restricted and almost repressively controlled in this country.

        3. ABM is a social misfit

Yes, that’s it: you’re a totally normal average psychologically sound middle aged man. Because rushing off to an internet site at 6am to peddle misinformation about something you haven’t the fainted idea of which serves as a distraction from your obvious loneliness is what a healthy man does. And dear, whatever I am paid for, one thing is sure, you’re not paid for anything. Sort yourself out, you dysfunctional *beta* cretin.

    1. Llareggub

Who’s your sexy daddy? I had a dream that Enda was filling in for Garth. There’s my dream out.

  3. ABM

Ah yes, attack their appearance. Like a true gentleman.

They are real women. The kind of girl you’d like to bump in to in a book shop. The kind of girls that successful men seek out.

There are far too many angry “go-getting” femi-nazis polluting modern Irish society. They spend their 20s and 30s being absolute bitches and then have to whine to daddy to pay for their fertility treatment in an expensive South Dublin clinic. When they suddenly realise the biological clock is about to go off, they latch on to some beta male, find out they can’t have kids (that they’ve been on the pill since they were 15 doesn’t even enter their minds) and throw themselves into their careers, only this time twice as angry and aggressive. Permanently on the look out for a nice discrimination case. It’s sad to watch young women aspiring to feminist utopia, when what feminism really delivers is women left barren, unhappy and on anti-depressants.

    1. nellyb

I like the sound of beta male, alpha sounds like an awful w@nk£r !
      http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=beta%20male
      “Beta Male
In the animal kingdom, the alpha male is the dominant member of the community. He’s like a cartoon caveman, commanding deference. The betas are wingmen, collaborative and conciliatory. In human terms, betas make the best mates. They do more in the house, and probably in the bedroom, because they know how to hasten the greater good. The beta has poetry in him, and a touch of youthful idealism. He’s sure of who he is, and not constantly trying to prove his value in materialistic terms. (Alpha: Your expensive car doesn’t make you interesting.) The beta can earn a lot of money, or a little, but the money’s not the thing; he profits because he works well with others.

There’s something rebellious about the beta male; he challenges the social order rather than succumbing to it. The beta male doesn’t buy in to the basest stereotypes about male behavior, and that’s hugely sexy.”

      1. ABM is a social misfit

I love the implication from ABM that he is somehow an alpha male! Guffaw. Beta appears to have been the latest thing he has picked up from his online obsessions. Something tells me ABM knows very little of what it is to be a man or indeed anything of mature relationships with other adults. ABM is merely a poor wretch more to be pitied than reviled. Life can’t be that good if his only pleaure is derived from spewing hatred (although he has toned himself down lately) online. It can’t be doing him all that good in any event. Still, it probably keeps him occupied and off the streets. A necessary evil perhaps?

        1. ABM

Dear oh dear. You are getting your bloody knickers in a twist, aren’t you? Does it ever cross your pea-brain that I might just be having a little fun with you lot. Trying to get you all to think a bit more about things. It gets tiresome when the only thing you wooly, illiberal Broadsheeters can do to a contrary opinion, is to hurl insult and invective. This won’t win you the marriage referendum for same-sex couples. While I might have created a monster in ABM, you lot, rather than reason, prefer to counter with equally aggressive rancour and personal abuse. ABM might represent everything you abhor and despise but burning his Bible might not have the desired result you believe…

          1. lorcan nagle

You might want to reconsider your discussiing style, I don’t think it’s working out the way you want it to.

    2. realPolithicks

Every now and then ABM, you give us some insight on your truly jaundiced opinion of women and life in general. What a sad, bitter person you are.

    3. Gav D

Bag of chips on the shoulder there today sir. Were the naughty womens mean to you? Cant imagine why…

      1. ABM

Ah, you’ve gotta love the white knight orbiter who’d do anything to get into bed with a woman who’d think nothing of aborting his child. And there’s nothing you can do about it either. It’s her “choice”.

Choose wisely my friend. You cannot undo life/death situations.

          1. ABM

That’s right. Men who don’t want their kids incinerated are “misogynists”. How dare they.

Oh, and just to reinforce your beliefs, it is a scientific fact that pro-life men only care about the little boys. 100% of said misogynists think the girls should go straight to the hospital furnace.

          2. Lorcan Nagle

No, men who claim that the only reason a man would want to assist a woman is because they want to have sex with said woman is a misogynist

          3. Lorcan Nagle

Thank you, it’s our 7 year wedding anniversary in September. And we were together for 10 years before that.

    4. kurtz

You should really stop bumping into women in the Veritas bookshop ABM. Even good Catholic maidens would find that kind of behaviour creepy.

      1. ABM is a social misfit

ABM, as referred to by another, is very keen to vaunt his singledom – a good lifelong chaste man – when discussing his other favourite topic of Marriage equality. He know a lot about cats – from time to time, he mentions her.

    5. Sidewinder

Blah blah pretends to defend sexism blah blah misogyny blah blah blah.

I am winning this ABM impression contest.

    6. Jordofthejungle

Beta male?! Lol! From anyone else. Don’t you croon about being a proud celibate (read sexual dysfunctional) religious crusader with only his cat for company. Like a fly to the proverbial, your life encompasses nothing more than scouring Broadsheet waiting to pounce once any of your febrile causes célèbres are mentioned. Is this how functional, psychologically happy *alpha* males spend their time? Do men of your age enjoy trolling online? Get a job or some sort of normal hobby you boor and stop spending so much of your wasted grim life online subsided by my taxes no doubt. Oh and your not beyond making fun of the appearance of those women who campaign for even limited abortion. I recall, you even made fun of Cora Sherlock who is on your “side”.

Get some other outlet for your crushing loneliness.

What is with you and South County Dublin? Does the area remind you of the low level squalor that pervades your own existence? You’ve only yourself to blame.

Spare me the usual risible denial and bile laden reply and try and sort yourself out creepo.

  4. andyourpointiswhatexactly

Ah hee-yor. No need to resort to personal insults. Feel free to lash out at the rubbish they’re pedalling: leave the name-calling to them.

      1. kurtz

And yet you always snipe at the appearance of women who are Pro-Choice. But then again being a hypocrite and a raging Catholic goes together wonderfully.

      2. bruce01

And yet it’s OK to make remarks like: “what feminism really delivers is women left barren, unhappy and on anti-depressants”.

        1. Lilly

It’s the women with kids and no support who are unhappy and on anti-depressants. The child-free ones are off climbing mountains.

          1. Anne

            +1

I’m not ‘barren’ myself, but have decided the species will go on without my assistance.
Some honest friends of mine with kids have said they wish they had decided the same.

          2. Jay

Yeah, people used to hide that opinion. They’re far more open about it now. As they should be.

          3. Lilly

Cos it’s sacrilege for a woman to be child-free and happy. They must surely be going to hell :)

          4. ABM

Delude yourself all you wish, woman is made to bear and raise children. Any happiness you think you feel without them is illusory and peddled by some lesbian feminist.

Mark my words, not fully allowing yourself to embrace the fruits of your fertility is a sure fire way to serious trauma and regret.

Leave the beta male Broadsheet types and find yourself a real, strong, manly alpha male to turn you away from this silly nonsense and set you on the right path of married, heterosexual committed love.

The window is short – the time to repent for making a bad choice is long.

          5. andyourpointiswhatexactly

Ah, come on. You’ve let yourself down with this post by being too troll-y. You need to pull it back a notch, buddy.

          6. Nigel

Meh. Common-or-garden gender essentialism that can be cut-n-pasted from any random comment section on the net when you feel obliged to distance yourself from the religious imperative behind your anti-choice stance.

          7. Anne

            But,
I kind of dislike children after an hour or so.
            I like sleep.
            I like unmuted sex.
I’m not gone on vomit or sh*tty nappies.
I’m not too gone on endless hours of cartoons.
I like my body the way it is..
I like doing what I like, when I like.

Made to bear and raise children are they?
But they have free will and contraception.. so, not quite.

    1. andyourpointiswhatexactly

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. My comment looks nonsensical now you’ve deleted what I was complaining about.

      1. scottser

yeah, mine too. i only mentioned abm’s penchant for coloured football boots, yoga and dana records..

      1. The Old Boy

I was talking about Caroline Simons. Cora Sherlock, for all her many other faults, is a qualified and practicing solicitor.

  5. Happy Molloy

I’m getting a litle sick of these attacks from so called liberals.

I am very much liberally minded, pro-choice, anti-homophone etc etc all that good stuff, but don’t like that people with differing views are hysterically demonised. Like the whole cake thing…
    Stinks of hypocrasy

    1. missred

“people with differing views are hysterically demonised” – How is this occurring? The PLC are not merely demonstrating their views or opinions here, they are trying to present their views or opinions as facts (which they aren’t) and using them to scaremonger folks. They have their rights to hold views, but not to mislead people. And others have the rights to both disagree with them and show them up for the liars they are.

    2. Sidewinder

Also I see nothing wrong with demonising people who would force critically ill women to stay pregnant even if their life is at risk. It’s horrendous behaviour that deserves harsh criticism. Hell I’m pretty sure they do a good job of demonising themselves.

      1. ABM

Any mother/father I know would put their life on the line at the drop of a hat for their own flesh and blood.

    3. AG

Liberalism doesn’t mean you have to accept every single different opinion. Liberalism should stand up to opinions that are profoundly illiberal. So no, it’s not hypocrisy.

  6. Lilly

I’ve also noticed that the people who wang on about bring pro-life are the very ones who never offer to babysit.

    1. PJ Hammond

My mother is pro-life and always offers to babysit my children and my siblings’ children.

      1. Eve

Is she free this weekend? I could root around the attic, see if I can find a bible to pay her for minding my kids

        1. PJ Hammond

          She’s not religious. You don’t have to be religious to be pro-life / anti-choice / anti-abortion.

  7. SCI

Well ABM is clearly barren, unhappy and mostly likely off his meds this evening I take it.
So by his own description, he’s a feminist is it?
He does seem awfully concerned about Broadsheeters being mean to his PLC friends.
He also seems to have a terribly ingrained hatred of women at the same time, so shall we go ahead and say that he probably couldn’t even pull in Coppers?
Not that he’d want to of course.

    1. ABM

That’s right. Commenting on the immoral unhealthy pathetic lifestyle of aging celtic tiger women means I’m a) a sexist/mysoginist b) suffer from mental health issues or c) ugly.

The fact that you’ve come on here to make these ridiculous snipes shows that what I said about barren, washed-up 35 year-olds hit a nerve with you.

      Well done the illiberal liberal.

      1. ABM is a social misfit

LOL! Follow your own advice and cure yourself first doctor. And you ABM, today from even before 6am rushing online to hurl abuse and bile at those who point out your utter lack of knowledge on a subject which serves as a distraction from your own misspent and wasted life. You wouldn’t do this were you in any way happy with your lot, a lot of low level (no doubt hypocritically immoral) squalor and religious zealotry – and you even can’t manage a good stab at the latter. You’re more to be pitied than scorned ABM.

  8. postmanpat

From left to right: woof, woof, oink oink, woof, woof, woof. Uncanny! George Carlin was right!

  9. Inooways

indoctrinated even in 2014…remind me how we’re more developed than African nations again? ps many of them have full abortion services
