it’s an absolutely disgrace that this national monument is being used for a nerd film. serious lack of judgement and lust for cash.

Are you nuts Helen? Think of the tourisim and jobs this will create. Tunis is still making money off the first movie as a location nearly 40 years ago. Get over it.

yeah, feck the damage to the national monument that will be done. who cares as long as we get cash.

Damage? You know they’re not real spaceships and light sabres! Tourists visit Skellig Michael every day. Film crews have been on it before. It’s a great boost to have some of a film from the biggest movie franchise ever, filmed in Ireland…. You don’t happen to live beside Croke park do you?

star wars film crew is not so much a film crew as a circus. we’re not talking about hand-held equipment here.

What kind of damage do you think they are guaranteed to do? Knock over one of the beehive huts? It’s a two day shoot as far as I understand, negotiations went on six months ago. I’m sure the OPW as is their remit have strict guidelines for them… And maybe, although I’m speculating, some money from the Star Wars crowd for the OPW for the upkeep of sites like, and including, Skellig Michael.

Do you honestly think, in this day and age that they will damage even the slightest little thing on that island? c’mom!!! Will be brilliant for Kerry.

Hahaha… yeah, the tourists will be out there by the truckload, oh no wait, there’s already rules in place that only 180 people can be on the island at one time.
