ThereIsACity sez:

Once a year on august 1st, the people of Warsaw pay homage to the fallen heroes that fought for freedom in 1944 during the Warsaw Uprising. The biggest rebellion against German Nazi occupation during WWII cost over 200 000 lives and destruction of the capital.

Except when it just leaves those nasty streaks that make it look even worse than it was before you cleaned it. People say well you didn’t clean it properly but I’m sceptical.

“I wonder if they ever commemorate the Warsaw Ghetto?”
realPolithicks, 200,000 people died, dude, most of them were women and children.

You do know that Witold Pilecki informed the Allies about what was going on in Auschwitz. He purposefully got himself arrested and thrown into the death camp. The Polish Government in Exile then released a report
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:The_Mass_Extermination_of_Jews_in_German_Occupied.pdf
based on that information. Look at the date. What did YOUR government do to help the Jews when they read that report?
Polish people helped the Jews in Poland a great deal and many lost their lives in the process. For helping a Jew in Poland, the entire household, including the children would get the death sentence. They are No 1 among the Righteous. 3 million non-Jewish Poles were murdered in WW2 as well, did you know that? How many of your people lost their lives in that conflict and was it as high as 20% of the population? Do you think it’s unfair for Polish people to celebrate the 1944 Warsaw Uprising then?
Poland was also one of the first countries in the world to formally protect the rights of Jews and protect Jewish autonomy – see the Statute of Kalisz. Many of the Jews were in Poland because they were driven out of Western Europe and Poland was one of the safest places for them.
But don’t let propaganda and your anti-Polish prejudice as well as hate compel you to enlighten yourself.

Meanwhile, Israeli newspaper editorial says that sometimes genocide is okay.

“Genocide Is Permissible” Muses Times Of Israel, Promptly Retracts
    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-08-01/genocide-permissible-muses-times-israel-promptly-retracts

The Times Of Israel has removed a provocatively-titled blog post after huge blowback, denunciations, and ridicule across social media. The post – “When Genocide Is Permissible” (in full below) – concludes, “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu clearly stated at the outset of this incursion that his objective is to restore a sustainable quiet for the citizens of Israel. We have already established that it is the responsibility of every government to ensure the safety and security of its people. If political leaders and military experts determine that the only way to achieve its goal of sustaining quiet is through genocide is it then permissible to achieve those responsible goals?”

Removal or not, we are sure this will do nothing to endear Israel to the world.

…when monuments are built in memory of the slaughter of innocents in Gaza, future generations will wonder how a people who were so brutalised themselves could in turn visit such evil on their neighbours.
