This could put us out of business.

Manchester United fans are no longer allowed to bring iPads and “large electronic devices” to Old Trafford. In an email circulated to supporters before Tuesday night’s friendly against Valencia, the club instructed fans to leave their tablets at home:

As Manchester United ban iPads from Old Trafford, what else should go? (Guardian)

I’ve never really got the ‘there’s always one’ thing on here. It’s never seemed like much of an annoyance to me.

Why are they being banned? Is it because they block views of other punters? Surely they’re not more annoying than giant flags or people standing up in excitement.

It’s generally old people doing it because they think the picture quality is better. They don’t grasp that the picture quality is generally far worse than a phone camera, they just look at it on a bigger screen and think it’s better. So there’s a actually a public service element ot this.

But yeah, they block other people.

No, no. That’s Asian people you’re thinking of there. Or is it gay people? Maybe it’s black people. Or something.

Ahh, did you not like my generalisation? Here, have, um, never mind, I don’t there’s a cure for your outrage.

Whatever about a cure for my outrage, there appears to be no end to your crass stupidity, endlessly entertaining though it may be.

Yeah, I’m used to seeing them around and don’t understand why they’re deemed so offensive.

According to the article, Oul Trafford want to curtail match-filming. Bizarre.

I don’t get why anyone would personally shoot footage of a match . I get the live “atmosphere” thing (I don’t get it personally but to each their own like the hill 16’ish vibe I never felt but whatever ) but isn’t using a tablet taking that ticket price away from a supporter. I doubt it harms other peoples fun. That fella is not in anyone way. Just a silly baby boomer codger like all our dads, caught up in the technology.. Its a fad. There’s no need for banning any of it. It will phase out eventually.
