Fee High? Ho Hum

Oh.

Brian McFadden’s agent mistakenly emailed his fee for the TV3 Toy Show to the entire TV3 newsroom, meaning that everyone now knows how much Brian charged to present the show.Unfortunately, to illustrate the story on their website, the Indo have mistakenly copied and pasted the entire photo caption, rather than just Brian’s name, from the photographer’s photoshop file, showing everyone how much photographer Brian has charged to have his photograph reproduced – €0…

Brian McFadden ‘sends TV3 €5K invoice’ for Toy Show – after telling DJ he would probably earn his yearly salary (Independent.ie)

The photographer would have been paid for the promo shots by the PR agency, or TV3 – it would be their decision not to charge for use of the promotional shows, not Mr McEvoy. Still though, €5k for McFadden?!

5k is less than alot of these face jockeys get, Bressie costs alot more so Ive heard. The arrogance of him tho! Most well known DJs could pull in double that for 3 hours work

Good old Indo, you need to read the story to find out that the ‘DJ’ is some sh1tkicker from Ballynegash Community Death Notice FM.

The station is actually NEAR FM based in Coolock.

Community radio is not commercial lite – at its core is the encouragement of groups and individuals to use media as a developmental tool. Community stations all around the country present programs that are researched, produced and presented by volunteers from all parts of the community. In a time when ownership of commercial stations is shirking to form an effective oligarchy (UTV, Communicorp) community radio can offer a true independent platform. Additionally through Sound and Vision projects community stations are currently producing some of most creative radio in the country. They don’t need to worry about alienating their advertisers because they are owned by the community they serve meaning you can hear music that is not play listed centrally.

Don’t be so dismissive and try and listen to some before making such idiotic remarks.

Sorry, maybe I should have gone for ‘The Ballytown Heroin Players present Crack is Whack and No Craic tonight at the Stephen Gately Memorial Theatre, Tickets 10 euros each, all proceeds go towards increasing the awareness of the availability of heroin in our community. Up next, Barclay Kelliher presents two hours of dance music, and is joined by legendary Ballyfermot mix-meister DJ Spasm’

In mild defense of Brian/Bryan McFadden, he didn’t say “annual salary”, he just said “salary”. €5k is probably more than the DJ’s monthly salary.

It’s Community Radio. He’s probably paid in snack boxes and the odd drunken hand job from a ‘fan’ in Club Grope at the weekend.

He didn’t have a go at community radio, he had a go at some faceless fella on twitter having a go at him for no particular reason who then decided to try and take the moral high ground.

Oh agree completely. I just don’t get why it seems to be ok for the dj guy to give abuse but then get in a hump when he gets it back at him. Act like a dick, don’t surprised if someone responds in kind, especially if that someone is a dick.

It’s technology bungles all the way down.

It’s a weird age we live in, that so much can be revealed with an accidental mouse click. Fifty years ago you had to get up on the altar on Sunday to embarrass yourself in front of more than a dozen people. It took effort. Now you just have to have a twitter account, an incompetent accountant or an awkward CMS. And most of us have all three of those.

This story is a classic example of why sites like WWN and the Onion work on a few levels. People are just reading the headling and going ‘McFaddan, what a gobshite, literally worse than hitler’. When you read the actual article and not the misleading headline, he actually did nothing wrong.

You wouldn’t catch Hilter playing ‘Flying Without Wings’ at three o’ clock in the morning!

  6. Keith

I think the real casualty of all this is his poor co-presenter, who is probably saying to herself this morning, “He got what??! That is my annual salary!”

  7. HappyDub

5k for a nights work, TV3 really splashed out, they could have made a whole series about dole scrounging immigrant travellers out of that.

Right we’ve entered forum Hitler territory. I’m outta here…. how many more hours until Vinnie Brown?
