Fly my pretties.

Four inches in Borrisokane, Co. Tipperary. My sister-in-law’s diva hens, they’ve stood there by the door to the hen house for 20 mins, boggled by the snow. And they’re not budging. Some grub left out for the wild birds too….

Parden my ignorance of all things fowl but what’s a ‘diva hen’?

    That’s a grand slab ‘o snow btw.

Now perhaps the councils can use up some of the hundreds of tonnes of salt and grit that they were forced to buy back in 2010 (and store at a huge cost to the taxpayer). All because the rabble said we should be tooled up like Stockholm or Oslo. Another salutary lesson on the power of the Irish mob.

You are half right, although it’s probably hard to tell from that photo – it’s a mix of hens and cockerels. Mammy is a Rhode Island Red and daddy is a white Silkie. Brood from the summer just gone.
