I just read the background – he was executed for treason. He was serving in the National Army while plotting with the Irregulars to seize Baldonnel airfield. One National Army soldier was killed in the attack. I hope someone is also mourning Private Moran today.
Dowling was executed in Portobello Barracks (although some accounts say it was Kilmainham Gaol).
