What you may need to know:
1. Adam Sandler stars as a creepy cobbler that discovers a magical sewing machine which allows him to walk in other peoples shoes. Do you see what they did there?
2. Sandler didn’t produce himself in to this one. He actually stars in it on merit.
3. Sandler has not been in a good film since we were 12. Hang on…
4. But we can’t blame him solely for this film. We can also point the finger at Emmy winner Ellen Barkin, two-time Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman, Grammy winner Method Man, Golden Globe winner Steve Buscemi and Bafta winning writer Thomas McCarthy. J’accuse!
5. There is little studio fanfare surrounding the release of this feel good comedy. Do you know what else feels good? Triple-ply toilet paper.
6. Broadsheet Prognosis: Absolute cobblers
Release Date: May 22
Looks good. Released on morrisseys birthday.
Ewww for knowing that, and double ewww for thinking its perfectly fine to write it.
He was superb in Punch Drunk Love.
But by and large he’s dreadful.

Where have all the apostrophes gone?
“Forbes has deduced the ten stars who are taking in the most money personally while making the smallest comparative dent at the box office. For the second year in a row, Adam Sandler is the most overpaid actor according to Forbes’ annual “Most Overpaid Actors in Hollywood” list.”

And why do they keep paying him? Because he makes mid-budget movies that give solid returns

“Jack and Jill …made $150 million worldwide against a $79 million budget.
Just Go With It,… grossed $215 million worldwide against a budget of $80 million.
Grown Ups made $217 million against another $80 million budget.
You Don’t Mess with the Zohan made $200 million against $90 million budget.
Click made $237 million off of an $82.5 million budget.
50 First Dates made $196 million off of a $75 million budget.
Anger Management made $196 million off of a $75 million budget.
Mr. Deeds… made $171 million off of a smaller $50 million budget. ”
I’m not sure who is going to these movies, but someone is paying. Ugh. And the venture capitalists are guaranteed a return on their investment. It’s not about art or entertainment, it’s about investment.
if this is five times better than Zoltan it’ll still be the worst film of 2015
I thought this was a Daniel Day Lewis bio…
Bit unfair on McCarthy – he wrote four outstanding screenplays – The Station Agent, Up, The Visitor and Win/Win – so I would be hopeful that this would be good
he was also the annoying journalist in season 4 (?) of The Wire.
(allegedly Kitty “There was an old woman who lived in a shoe while on the housing waiting list” Holland worked as a consultant)
