Ger Eaton, his partner Susann and children Bowie and Jude welcome Home of the Year TONIGHT (RTÉ One, 8.30pm) into their Celbridge, Co Kildare home.

Ger, captured in his pad by photographer Donal Moloney last January [link below], is lead singer with  ‘The Carnival Brothers‘ [of last Summer’s The Sun Is Gonna Shine fame].

Fair play, in fairness.

    I admire that guys style…. we need more of that. But the premise of the programme? That three “judges” would decide some vague “home of the year” notion? One who is old enough to better who wears his mother’s head scarf around his neck… a woman who dresses like she’s on her coffee break in Butlins and a whipper snapper hipster wannabe who has put all his mental and physical energy into growing very unimpressive facial hair. these people are qualified to judge “style”? I don’t think so.

    Disturbing.

    And of course, it’s a pastiche of the 70s so no house actually looked like that and nobody wore those mechanic shirts in Ireland. Nobody wore them. We weren’t the States in the 1970s.

    If they’re serious about then, go to mass every Sunday and bring the kids to the local public dentist who robs all the anesthetic for their private practice.

      I don’t mind a nod to past design, but that house is too much. It’s a little childish actually. Still, each to their own and all that.

    Anyone see The Collectaholics on BBC last nite….
    Some guy turned his old house back to what it looked like in around just pre WW1. Brilliant job…. a mix of “Edwardian and Art Deco” …..but fupp me I wouldn’y live in it :)
