Comedian Steve Bennett has made a response to the infuriating “I’m gay and I’m voting No.” video that’s plaguing YouTube right now.

Hmmmm. Steve Bennett might want to look up the words ‘comedy’ and ‘comedian’, also ‘funny’ and ‘laughter’.

Is it just me or does Steve look the head off Graham Dwyer if be clipped the beard. Sorry to bring him up again, but it’s jumping out at me.

  2. Jimmee

Today I learned (just 2 days to go!) that…

    1. Churches won’t be forced to marry same-sex couples, but…
    2. Bakeries are forced to bake cakes for same-sex couples.

    Equality sucks balls.

    1. Drogg

Thats Northern Ireland Jimmee. I though LCD said we have different laws here? anyone?

    2. VictorRomeo

Forced? For real? You mean like some sort of cake slave? Where’s the humanity?!

No fingers fumbling in their empty tills….., what?

        1. Stiofanetc

They were fined £500 for breaking the law. Discrimination based on sexuality is illegal in Northern Ireland. And in the Republic of Ireland.

    3. Stewart Curry

Yeah, equality is terrible. Imagine not being allowed to discriminate against people because they are gay. How awful.

I think it’s grrr! agus cute..

Plus a man with a beard saves you a fortune on loofah. Practicalities, gotta save for that wedding!

    1. Rob_G

The only happy upswing of today’s events is that Paddy Manning won’t be getting any d*ck for the next few months.

  3. Marie

Does his banner actually say ‘Gay Man’ or is that a photoshopped parody?!? Genuinely…?

    1. Squiggleyjoop

Oh it’s genuine. I walked by earlier, there was also person holding a ‘chef’ sign. Ordinary people and all that.

      1. bertie blenkinsop

And we’re all going to have to carry one after the referendum you say?
I can’t wait to get my “workshy fop” one.

          1. Bertie Blenkinsop

Due to an error at the printers you’ve ended up with fatscrotum unfortunately.

  4. Zoolander

Isnt he the guy who was in the audience for the debate on the Late Late show?

His dialogue with Una Mulally was classic:
Paddy: I’m a gay man and I’m voting no!
Una: You may not want to get married, but I do…
Paddy: Dont tell me what I cant do!

  5. Drogg

Oh i love how the No campaign like the Prolife campaign roll out the token young people. Just a bit of news for yis, for when you go back to your real lifes, people really don’t like to associate themselves with bigots.

  6. Joe the Lion

I am in awe of that Gay Man sign. They have a similar declaration in the liberal.ie website. Seriously how thick do they take people for? Sunday World readers

  7. Serval

I was originally going to vote No (because of the children of the children), but…
I feel bullied by Paddy Manning into voting No, so…
I am now going to vote Yes.
(just twisting the logic (again) for those of you who don’t get sarcasm)

  8. Mick Flavin

Is Paddy Manning fair game for taking the piss out of, or is he a vulnerable person that should be cut some slack, as some people have suggested recently?

    1. Bacchus

It’s a valid question but his friends seem happy for him to be on the frontline so…. fire away.

    2. yrtnuocecnareviled

You had to ask so probably not.
Do one of [redacted] cycling through a red light.

      1. Mick Flavin

I’m leaning towards your take on it, yrtnuocecnareviled.
        I already did a [redacted] one…

Oh where to start. Play the ball not the man we are told but that is a bit difficult with someone like Paddy Manning so I am trying, very. Let’s see.
It all began with a poster campaign which managed to insult about half the country. Families come in many shapes but they were sure that people would see their righteous intentions. They did. Even the mammies favourite Daniel O’Donnell was offended. They then moved onto fighting with people in areas like law and child welfare. Expert opinions count for little as NO channelled the Reverent Ian Paisley. Archbishop Diarmuid even disowned them because they were too homophobic. Hats off on that one because making the Catholic Church appear moderate on an issue such as equal marriage is no mean feat. And now in the final performance, we are back to Paddy. Big sign saying ‘Gay Man’. No shit Sherlock but what sort of gay man?
The sort who wants to get on with their lives including the option of marrying their lifelong partner or the sort that longs for the days when preaching from on high was a lifestyle choice?

  10. Clampers Outside!

So, Iona is connected to Legatus and Legatus are one of those groups embroiled in the States for practices around “curing” the gay.

‘Strange bedfellows’ indeed… disturbing that a gay man would associate with a group carrying out such practices.

    1. PPads

Back in the day, if you were gay you either pretended you weren’t or joined the priesthood. Manning may seem like a puppet now but then, it was commonplace. It just proves how deep internalised homophobia can go. Catherine Tate’s sketch ‘Johns is a gay man now’ comes to mind. This too would be funny if it wasn’t so sad.

      1. Mani

That someone has forced you to recall anything by Catherine Tate is a sign that this whole malarkey has gone too far.
        Pray for Ppads.

  11. bobsyerauntie

    Seriously..

Is Paddy Manning being paid by some right-wing Catholic organization to be the token “I’m voting No and I’m Gay” guy?

I find it difficult to believe that anyone could be that screwed up that they would willingly go against their own community the way Paddy Manning has these last few months. Also he has ultimately just made an absolute mockery of himself, his reputation and his own image in the process. Either he’s being paid bucks to do it or he needs to look into getting some serious therapy..
Personally, i never believed his schtick for a second, he never came across as credible or serious.. in fact he always had a bit of a smirk on his face every time he went on TV..
So again, I ask the question could it be possible that he was paid large sums of money to do it?
    Just throwing it out there..
Paddy reminds me of the character Samuel L. Jackson played in Django Unchained…

I really hope the referendum draws attention to those who so desperately crave it. Where did all these Gay rights activists on facebook appear from?
